hello, I have two lavender Orpingtons that I got last May. They were 8 and 10 weeks old. They started laying at the end of August beginning of September. I live in Michigan and they stopped laying the end of October and started molting mid November/December. We had a really cold December and January, one of my hens started laying about two weeks ago again. She was the younger of the two and the last to molt. The older one has not yet started laying and she has a pale comb compared to the other. She is not acting lethargic or any different so I am not sure if I should be concerned? It did get warm for about a week which is when the other started laying again so I’m not sure if it has to do with the cold weather or not. I have checked for mites and lice and she does not appear to have either. She is not squatting when you pet her like the other. Is it just the weather or that she molted so late in the season it’s taking a little longer? Thank you in advance for any help!

She may have had a harder molt and her system is just taking longer to recover.

The daylight is getting longer so my guess is her comb will start to reden up and she will resume laying before long.

My hens quit in Oct. Haven' laid an egg since
