Yes, that's right - warm water freezes faster than cold water. Those of you carrying warm water to your flock during the winter are just wasting time. It's all physics and chemistry.

also, if you add a little vegetable glycerin (the kind in the baking section of the grocery store) to the water, i will stay thawed longer... changes the freezing temp

Just wanted to point out that it does state that this only occurs under some conditions, not all, so you can't categorically state that warm water freezes faster than cold.

Just gotta love misinformation. lab tests are not real world. Warm water does not freeze as fast as cold. i can put a waterer out of warm water and not touch it all day. If I did that with cold I would have to change it every 3 hours.
