Winter watering

I have a horse water heater bucket that was left in my barn. Anyone know of a way I can use that for my chickens?

It's too deep to be safe for chickens. You could fill it half full of rocks or gravel, and then set blocks around it, but I think it will be much easier to manage a heated medium sized dog dish, or a chicken waterer on a heated stand. Mary
