Hi I have 3 peafowl chicks that hatch about 6 weeks ago. How are they during the winter? I have chickens and just want to know if I need to add heat to coop for the pea babies. I live in Ontario (southern) any help would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks

I'm in Michigan (thumb) and for me it depends on how cold & how fast it gets cold. Really helpful,huh? Do what you are comfortable with. I have pea chicks that will be 6 weeks old Friday and I plan to have probably a 100W bulb for them in a corner of their coop if it gets below mid teens.

Okay thanks for the tip. Would you know how to sex a peachick? And is it noticeable at this age?

Here are 2 of my lovely's the one on the right you can see green coming out in the feathers

I was surprised when this white one hatched! This one is my suckie baby lol

Okay do they need the wings spread to see the flight feathers and what would the "not" white be??

@josie34 Cute babies!

Your looks-white-but-isn't seems to be a Black Shoulder.
For some pictures for comparison, please take a look out our work-in-progress image database, especially the Peachick Chart:

The right chick in the first picture looks male and the one on the left looks hen, and for the blackshoulder chick I think it's still early to sex him/her.
