winterizing chickens/routine maintenance

I have a routine with my pigeons. Before it starts getting below freezing every night I perform a few tasks such as worming and vaccinating for a couple of illnesses. These usually strike when the birds are stressed from prolonged cold.
Is there anything like that I should do for my chickens?

Get a lamp on them if you want eggs in the winter. Some people increase their carbo loading which will help them keep warm; but from what I recall it's actually starches which are turned into heat.
