Hi we had a predator attack last week after free ranging all day and manually opening & closing little coop door daily. With this awful situation, we are buying this run. We live in the SW suburbs of Chicago; it’ll be cold as heck next week. Also have a new 3-4 mo pullet coming next week. Outdoor coop is heated. Moving our old little coop into heated garage. Questions:
1. Run won’t be flush with little coop door. Suggestions on connections?
2. We have a 160W heater in our 27 sq feet outdoor coop with a water warmer to avoid freeze. At what temp should we move the girls to garage coop?
3. How to winterize the run from weather conditions without worrying about ventilation? Tarp or plastic on the sides?
4. Weather conditions + new 3-4 mo old Wyandotte pullet & 8 mo. surviving Orpington - we can coop separately for a few days but are scared about the weather meaning they’d be in the heated garage until this next polar freeze clears. Re- Introduced Lemon to the garage today. [she and her former flock lived there as 10 Day old chicks with a heat lamp until it was warm enough to bring them outside.]

This is a lot - always open to a call if that is easier. Thank you so much.

I would like to answer some of your questions,,,, But at this moment, I just ran out of time.
My answers do get somewhat long often. My typing is not very fast.
Can I suggest you post your same info on the Illinois state thread.

There are some active peeps there within a stones throw of your area. I'm in Melrose park. Same weather conditions. BTW.
I will try to return here tomorrow.

WISHING YOU BEST,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,and :welcome

Whew!
Not a good time to be integrating new birds, or building new runs.
Might be better to wait until spring.

Don't think that run is going to hold up to snow load.
Would need some serious bolstering to do so.
Also, chicken wire is not predator proof.

A bit confused about the size and pics of outdoor coop.
Is that whole building shown in first pic the outdoor coop?
