Winterizing Run

Pics
I reuse old greenhouse plastic I recycled from work. So all I gotta buy is batten tape and some staples and I winterize the property for about $15 Works great for our winters here in TN, I do the same thing for the chicken houses too, just leave different amount of gaps for ventilation depending on the building or chicken tractor 🤟

Just bought 4x8 panels of clear poly carb twin panels…just trying to figure out the best way to attach them to the posts of the run.
I’m thinking about drilling holes and using zip strips. Thoughts?

Id personally put them against post then drill a 2x2 or 2x4 into them so it sandwiches rhe poly sheet between rhe post and the new 2x4. Ive used poly sheeting on top of some brooders but strong winds pulled them off thr nails and they tend to crack easier than I expected! Especially when a small limb fell off a nearby tree and shattered it 😭

But it's your thread, so you can continue it anytime you want ;)

No vaseline does not help, can make it worse in some cases.
Best to leave hands off before and after.
In one of my other posts you asked me to start a new thread with picture so people can help me with ventilation. Since this is already a started thread… here are inside pictures of the coop. Note: we are building a new coop with i hope enough all year round ventilation.

Is this the stuff that's about 1/4 thick, and when you look at the cross section it's a bunch of tubes side by side? (That's what I used.) They sell special screws for attaching to wood.

If you're attaching to metal poles, then I think holes and zip ties would work fine.

Half of my run is held together with zip ties... :gig

Make your own thread under “coop & run” so you get more replies, then an already started thread.

I tried the roll of plastic the first year, it worked fine but it's just not see thru. Then I went to shower curtains & they were better because they are see thru & they have grommets in all the right places. So I use them on my covered run off the big coop. I have no pic of this.

I have littles in the small integration/brooder this year & wanted to give them a bigger covered area so I put up a hoop & covered it with extremely heave duty shower curtains (12 gauge), these things are like tarps. They will work well - https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B07YFPPH4Q/ref=ppx_yo_dt_b_search_asin_title?ie=UTF8&psc=1 IMG_20211009_132137919.jpg IMG_20211009_132200865.jpg
