We live in NKY and where our home is located picks up a bit of wind late fall early winter. We struggle with wrapping our coop. We need something heavy, but still want light to come in. Staples and plastic seem to just rip off. It's frustrating.
Anyone out there also live in a windy space and if so, what have you found has worked because we need a solution
asap. It's unseasonably warm now, but it won't last.

I guess NKY means Northern Kentucky.

I've used clear plastic sheeting, can't remember if it was 3 mm or heavier. I use strips of plywood maybe 1" wide and roll the ends of that sheeting around those before I screw them in place. Get maybe 4 wraps around that strip and use enough screws it doesn't flex much. You want it stretched tight too. You don't want it flapping any more than it has to.

With staples or screws with washers it is just going to rip. This spreads the attachment out so it lasts a lot longer.

Clear marine vinyl worked very well for us. 20 gauge. We use the paint rulers (come in a pack of 12 from home depot, and you can drill holes in a pack to prevent cracking) as staples to hold down the vinyl.
