wire floor in run

    planning on building a small "coop tractor" with attached run. My Q, can I use wire on ground?

    Yes you can use wire, but why?
    Your chickens will not be able to scratch in the dirt with the wire.
    Chickens love to scratch by nature (it's their way of foraging for food).
    Also, not wiring the floor saves you a whole lotta money!
    I recently built four of these pens to house my Silkies.
    The lids open up on top and there are two doors on the side.
    There is no wire on the floor.
    I built it the same height as a roll of wire so all I had to do was wrap the wire around the cage and staple in place.
    Even though this can be moved, it's not a tractor and I do not move it; they are out in my pole barn.
