Wire for fencing of run

I would agree to the point of keeping the dogs out. unless of course you know that they wont touch them. however I would suggest that the mesh thing wont do any good, it looks like the stuff they put over grapes.... and it also looks flimsy as hell. then again depending on how much you want to spend, how much you value your chooks and what kind of preditor problems you have also add up. For me I would spend the extra money and make it secure and something that will last rather than a quick fix which may keep them in but not keep others out

4x4 grid will keep big chickens in but not pullets or small raccoons or critters out. I personally would add an additional lower layer of hardware cloth or chicken wire to the fencing to help your odds. For just a little more money you can get knotted 2x4 grid (also called no climb horse fencing) that is much stronger; Yet, I have even had pullets (7 weeks old) go through a 2x4 grid. 2x4 fencing shown below.
