Have new chicken tractor with coop approx 3' above ground with PVC coated 3/4" mesh wire floor.
Windows and nest boxes etc. raised off floor to help with DLM.
In south Louisiana so it Hot summers and mild winters.

I would like try DLM.
Would rubber mat over wire mesh hold some moisture to get DLM going?
Maybe rubber mat wouldn't slime underneath with open wire and air etc.
Can little dirt be put in over floor mat or wood floor to aid moisture for DLM?

Only advantage I can see to just wire floor is ventilation.
No way I see all poop going thru.

Need suggestions please.

If you're moving it regularly, you don't want it heavy. Deep litter gets heavy.

You mention hot summers, so the ventilation through that wire floor might be a very good thing.
