Wire is a hen. hens have orange and black bills and drakes have yellow and green bills. Does Wire quack loudly?

How come Wire is getting more green colouring though? I thought only the males got the green head? That picture is from Jan 1 and he has gotten more green since then.

How old is Wire? They do, the picture you posted you can see that green on his head. My hens had the same green on their head when they were younger.

Is the green coming in like this?

Wire is 5 - 6 months. The feathers above his speculum feathers have a very greenish tinge to them

Okay, my drake got his breeding plumage at 14 weeks old, and it's pretty much the same for other Mallards. Does Wire quack?

No more than any of the others!

Well you can tell by the voice if he's a drake or hen. If it's a hen they will QUACK, boys on the other hand, have a hoarse Wongh.

He makes noise but its never really been a quack, more of a honk. I noticed today his tail feathers have a green tinge to them. Here's a pic of the feathers above his speculum feathers
