Where did you find this? On the Fairgrounds web site there is a swap on the 3rd and one on the 17th. The swap on the third costs $2 over the age of 12 and starts at 6, the one on the 17th starts at 7. The swap for the third was in the Buyers guide as well with all of the info you have posted but not for the 17th.....

I did not want anybody to be confused as to the time and place of when things are happening......

I got this from the flier handed out at the Fon Du Lac Swap along with the flier for the Beaver Dam one too.

Up to 20 babies but I'm still waiting on those bobwhites.

Terri O, was my DH any help?????

There were a lot of people! I didn't get the little sisters going as early in the morning as I would've liked, and then there were potty stops, and soda stops along the way, so we didn't get there until things were already starting to wind down - you'd probably already left, Terri. It was definately worth the drive though!

I ended up bringing some things home...

First of all, I just had to bring this guy home - he's not the greatest quality Call, he's a little big, but he's going to live in the pet Drake pen once he's out of quarantine. He's dirty and his feathers are "tatty" right now, but I think he's going to be adorable after a good molt:

The guy I bought him from tried to GIVE me some guinea pigs as I was leaving - I'm pretty sure I would've been kicked out of the house if I came home with a bunch of them

. I was under strict instructions that the only things I was allowed to come home with were White Calls or Bantam Cochins - and by the time I got there, I didn't see any Cochins I liked (okay, there was one that I loved, but he was useless for my plans for the flock).

And then I brought home some hatching eggs. Who knows if they'll actually do anything - but, since the incubators are running anyways...I'm not planning on telling mom unless they hatch - shhh!

I had to come in and hide out....DH is attempting to cut down a tree and I think it is going to fall on my daughter's car....but what do I know?

He is ticked because the loader arms wont go up...DUH...I told him that it was not working when I tried to use it to move snow 3 storms ago! OH OH--I hear the chain saw again. I will listen for screaming.

I looked for a peahen for my neighbor today too. All the birds that were in his price range had crooked toes. I dont like to buy for someone else...everybody doesnt appreciate the "special" birds like I do!

Yes H&R that is where I got the Anconas in the building. I thought they were pretty cheap! The woman was not good at math though and tried to overcharge me...good thing I had had my coffee! They are doing well with the rest of the chicks. Boy, you get rid of a few and then get more hey H&R? I saw some nice looking birds there that I thought your son would like. Glad you diceded on something for him! I picked a nice pair of Black Australorpes and saw them being carried out as I went to get the kennel for my duck. I really wanted a pair of gold/brown Archangels (pigeons) really should have grabbed them. As soon as I said I wasnt set up the guy behind me snapped them up! I KNEW they were nice! Oh well--got his name; he has more. I have to get set up a bit better for pigeons before I go gung-ho!

When I was going beck to the car there were a bunch of people by the next car. All the kids had little bunnies and the boy had the cutest pair of Seramas--I swear they were not much bigger than a robin! I asked him if he was going to keep them in his bedroom. His Mom laughed....sure wish I would have had parents like that! I was lucky I could have a dog!

Well, I suppose I better go out and see about that tree. I dont hear any more noise coming from that direction....Terri O

Thank Goodness for the sun here...cold wind off of the Lake but it sure looks like early spring. My two week old chicks are already trying to figure out ways to get out of the brooder...I put a roost in there, and when I have the top off to change water, shavings or food they all scramble to perch on the rim of the brooder. I bought an old dog kennel in great shape, 12' X 8' and 6' tall...with a nice gate. That and some good screening for the lower half of the pen should make a nice run. Found it, of course, on Craiglist. I called this nice old guy and he said I've got someone coming later afternoon so I bolted out the door and took a long drive north to his house. He was asking more than I could afford, so I told him it was nice but I couldn't afford it. He asked me what I could afford and I offered him half and we had a deal. I don't know about you folks but I've been using Craigslist for about three years now and, knock on wood, it's always been a good thing.

Now I'm going to get some chores done and have a beer with dinner. Nonstop fun here at the farm, I'll tell ya.

Hey Terry O hope your DH gets the tree cut down safely...... how are the chicks that Blue hatched doing with the other babies are they still fast or are they adjusting to humans?

My son is happy about the chicks that he picked out as they are very friendly and like to sit on him

Well all 5 of our hens laid an egg today-we were just talking about how we have only gotten 4 eggs the last couple of days and maybe need to separate the one that we thought wasn't laying to check....must have overheard us talking about soup

Terry O don't forget to save 1 spot for the one bantam chick that we think is a boy!!

Don't worry...his spot is "saved!"
big_smile.png
Not that I dont always have room...all the chicks are the same and I dont think I can even tell the difference any more! They are all eating and drinking and of course pooping up a storm! I need to put them in a bigger area tomorrow. There are 23 in that tote now! At least they wont get cold! I am so afraid that the bulb will burn out and they will get a chill!
I had the neighbor girl and her friend stop over earlier...they wanted to "look" at the horses. If you own horses you know that that translates into "ride" horses! So I had them brush them and then when my daughter got home she walked them around a bit. I dont really like doing that! DOnt mind taking the littler ones on the back but walking--NOT!
The beans are finally done...nothing like eating in shifts! Terri O

Good Evening... Yep, it was a nasty chilly wind for most of the day until just before dusk here.

It's good to hear that everyone that made the road trip for the swap came away with something they wanted or needed!

Hope the tree came down where it's suppose to go...gosh I hate that when they don't....

Fired up the grill for some venzun cheeseburgers tonight. Toss on a piece of fresh apple wood and they were mighty tasty. Suzie said they were the best ever. I know I've made better. Might have been the wash, eh!

The wash, is always fine.

Have Fun... ~ bigzio

YES! The two trees are down and the "20s" are having their campfire. I suspect that all will be burned tonight...along with a few cases of beer! I am going out to make sure it is not too big and then hitting the rack! Those kids always get me going and if it was Saturday I might even think about it...but, early to work tomorrow! (and all this week

) Goodnight! TErri O

We here had a great weekend. I coach baketball for our 4-H club in Outagamie County and out of 5 teams we have 3 moving on to next weekend.
wee.gif

The kids are so happy most are from some sort of farm. We have alot of goat milking people and regular farming people in our area so it's kinda cool. And for you people who know me on here I am not your normal basketball coach. I've never played the game and don't get into the whole watching it on tv. Rather be watching the eggs turn in the bator. lol The weather we are having right now is my fav. of the spring freeze at night and nice in the afternoon. Well enough rambleing. I'll stop in tomorrow night. Mike

Cedar Post, Congrats! You must be doing something right! Oh! And can you send me any info on where we can take hunter's safety online? The website or any other info? Thanks.

2 Bobwhite Quail eggs pipped last night, but those stinkers are still not out.

All 47 other babies are doing just fine.

I had to laugh last night. I was making sure everyone wasa go to go for bed, and I heard something strange in the tub with the bigger chickies. I look in, and I find the 2 older EE babies that I bought at swap dust bathing in the wood chips......
smile.png
I was so proud! It was really cute. They can really whip that stuff! I had just put them in there yesterday and it was their first day with the wood chips.
