Jim, Aren't you on the East side of Wausau?

I'll tell DH about the plucker. I really do need to downsize roosters, but they are so pretty.

Btw the only mean Rooster I ever had was the polish that wouldn't let you out of the coop. He passed from natural causes. Maybe a kick from DH? (just kidding)

When we were getting fresh eggs from my MIL, we would get the eggs with the blood spot. Never thought twice about eating them either.

I have lost my mind..... I have signed up to do not one, but TWO of the Dirty Girl Mud Runs....... I am doing the one in WI in Aug, and also joining my cousin on the 30th of June for the one in Lake County IL...... I am going to be so sore......

OK, while times are different today than they use to be...we all know that...I just want to mention that in our local paper...in the 80 years ago today section...one of the neighbor farms here (still run by kinfolk) placed an add in the paper....hatching eggs... $1.50 per 100 eggs. Just fricken cool to read that. We are lucky to have one of the oldest privately owned papers still alive.

I wonder if my Uncle that use to own this property bought from him....he had a huge coop.

Wow That's a penny and a half a piece !!! Wonder if that was a good price or high for the time?
I have relatives that live down south someplace that raised chickens and according to my Auntie E they had quite the operation. Forgot what state, NC? I'll have to ask again. I've heard the story 100 times but for the life of me can't remember it. Must of only half way been paying attention.

My Auntie E also told me that her dad (My Grandpa) would go down to the river and get clam shells and grind them up for the chickens for calcium, just an FYI

Thanks for sharing Bigz.

Ok, I know you may have mentioned it but I'm old, what is the Dirty Girl Mud Run actually?

Hi all! The mud run is a fun run through obstacles, mud and water. It is a natinal thing to support breast cancer research. Last summer I posted a few pics of my DD25 running it. SHe had a blast! Too bad it is $75 this year...I might just have to go and watch BL4 to see it. IT is very fun and a big party!

I decided that my eggs were done today Bigfam. I did the flat test and could have sworn that one of the eggs from you had movement...I knew in my heart that it didnt though....they were due on Monday and the only chick out of the batch hatching on Sunday! So I floated and then cracked them open. Of the Wheaten Marans there were two blacks, two silvers and a yellow. They looked to have quit 2 weeks in...sad for sure. None were ready to hatch so it wasnt so bad opening them. Does anyone know what they are supposed to look like colorwise upon hatching? I am heading to feathersite after I am done posting...I was surprised to fine 3 colors!

My friend got 2 more PBPs! I am thinking that she might have gotten the male you were going to get FT? Were you going to meet in Necedah? That would be weird if she got the pig you wanted! LOL! Now she says there is someone in the Madison area that is giving away adults!

DD25 just messaged and she said the snow is here! I guess I better get out and do some chores! Nighties! Terri O

How many Blue Andalusians are you looking for? Do you just want pullets? We might have some extra again in a few weeks but they won't be day olds probably more like several weeks old and we might have a few black and splash colors too.

I was looking for 5 pullets and 2 rooster. I was looking for 2 roosters so that I might end up with a black to breed blues. I was originally trying to tie in the arrival of my order with potential hatching of the eggs in my incubator around the 11th of March. feel free to send me a PM so I can catch it! With all the chatting on here you never know and we could work out potential details.

thanks,
Joe

Another explicit picture in my mind's eye. About what the chicken fairy is wearing! You gotta stop that! Is he making pancakes too?

At first I thought you meant your yard around your barns that you're always telling us about you falling in.

No FT she got a boy and a girl. They are spotted--born in November I think. I am going to see them on Saturday and will take pics then. They are both spotted. She only wanted a female but the woman said she could have them both for $25. The boy was the runt I think. They were not from iron ridge. Now she has 3 just like you do! She was feeding the original one regular pig food and she says it is big enough to be the newcomer's Mom! I told her to stop that! I will have to give you her email. SHe lives right next to where we had the fall bash in Lake Mills.

CC I keep forgetting to say thanks for that key to finding the time of post. (Hovering over the time lapsed since post.) I am glad Jim asked cause that bugged me too! I like to see how long CC and FT stay up! LOL!
