Hi All!

Jim... was that supose to be a layer of 1"x1" with a layer of 1/2"x 1/2" over the top? Couldn't figure out what the " 12"x 1/2" would be.

Oh such cute little peepers! Including the little girl!

Thanks for the picture Jim. Maybe I could even make something like that with a pattern to follow. What did you attach the legs to Jim?

Am having problems with my rooster s fighting again. Lucky ( a bantam cochin) tore into FScottFitzgerald (an old english bantam) and when I found Fitz he was on his side with his tail up and his face purple. I thought he was a goner, but I picked him up and he is still alive. I put him on a bookshelf for the night and he seems to be doing better.

he he he. Ahh winter in southern Wi. Ahhh! I'm with Bigz on that! Bigz where do you bear hunt? When I was scrolling down I said hey there's Chuck! And Addie! I can't imagine him giving you "that" look FT... well maybe I can.

Seems to be a fluctuation in eggs. Got 4 then 1 then 2. I'll take whatever they give me I guess kinda like the weather.

Just to be clear:

Jim- Chicken Knowledge Fairy

Bigz- Chicken God (but Jim wasn't around just then to get the name first)

DrH- Papa Smurf of Chickendom


The costume WOULD be a tutu for Jim with Big Chicken wings on his back, and a nice big red comb strapped to his head... Don't forget the wand

The costume for Bigz would be a Jesus robe and sandals (with socks Because ths IS Wisconsin) and a fake ZZ Top type beard

And Papa Smurf of Chickendom... That involves a chicken suit, with red pants and a big red hat... I suppose you could do some blue face paint and strap on a beak

We've had snow in the northwoods so I won't say, nice snow pics,,,rather see palm trees and sandy beaches this time of year

Jim, nice brooder/breeder cages! Roof? Do you add nest boxes for the breeders?

I am getting that old ice shack out of the snowbank and working in the 3 high brooder this week. Planning on getting 50 more BSL's March 15th IF all goes well with spring melt down I will have my hoop house tractor ready for them early April (or I will be doing a lot of schoveling to get at all the components. **** knew I should have done that last fall,,,grrrrr

Speaking of which,,,got 4" last night need to clean things up,,,

btw,,,Jim my avatar pic is my BLRW,,,she's a splash and yes,,,she does have 2 legs. Ya think if I brought her down she will quit laying? Getting 5 eggs a week from her might be a start for your hatching

Oh I have a wand already..I am holding it up for you right now.. of course you can't see it, so I will describe it for you.. It is located next to my ring finger and it is the second finger from the thumb..It sticks out all by itself,, you can see a facsimile of it on your own hand..

the floor of the coops are ginseng drying frames.. a neighbor gave 2 to me..

I use green decking screws for all major fasteners. Square drives..

the roof is steel siding that I had left over from doing my garage.. for wind protection, I drape a piece of blue tarp over the top and back..

there are 3 roosts with a total of 12 feet of space.. the door tracks and rollers are salvaged overhead garage door tracks and rollers..

I have many photos of this pen during construction..

it is a nice size, but if I build any more of them, I am going to make them 8 feet wide. It takes 2 people to catch all the chickens out of one of these 10 footers.. the chickens all run to the opposite end and you can't reach them even with a net..
