Wisconsin "Cheeseheads"

I have no clue as to either or the parents of the chick! IT has a rose comb and is yellow with a grey tinge...I guess Iw ill just have to wait until it grows upto see what it might be! That is the problem with letting them all run together...you get a really cute one and dont have any idea how to make another one! T

ETA: If you would like to see Aussies at the bash I can certainly bring some CC!

unk... were you going to use that hot tub or give it to the ducks?

EL.... That pic is sooo sooo cute! (just 1 tiny little thing if you want to submit it somewhere [and you should!] see if you can Photo Shop out the water tower.)

Das... nice kitty.... hope they don't do too much damage this year!!....Yes, TO, up nort' they do, the population went way down for years but is picking back up.

maz...That is too bad about the snake! One year when I was a teen a big barn snake was in our neighborhood. One of the neighbors freaked and called the police! The cop that came freaked and started shooting it! I freaked and was trying to tell him it was a GOOD snake! Too late!

Of course then I listened to everyone ***** all summer about all the rats and mice.

Going to get the proper stuff to treat her tomorrow.

May be back later.... Night!

Good evening! Same thing I was gonna ask EL! The second pic looks like one but I thought that the first one was a cougar! DO we even have those here?
hide.gif
One of my Uncles had a bobcat that was stuffed with it's mouth open and claws out. It always scared me as a kid...
Not usually. We usually only get a solitary male passing through very rarely. I saw a story on the news of some sightings on a farm in the western part of the state, but that was a few years ago, I think. Those are some big ***** kitties!

Per Wikipedia:
Transient males have been verified in Minnesota (where one was shot and killed)[6], Wisconsin[7], Iowa[8][9], the Upper Peninsula of Michigan, and Illinois, where a cougar was shot in the city limits of Chicago[10][11][12] and, in at least one instance, observed as far east as Connecticut.

DAS, those are some impressive pics. That is not a situation I would want to be in. Beautiful cats, but not when they're getting your birds.

It looks like a fenced run doesn't deter them. I'm sure they can jump over. At least they are solitary animals. But as long as she has easy prey, and babies, she won't be in a hurry to move on. I hope your birdies can stay safe.

EL, your pic is so impressive! You can almost smell the breeze. With the chicken being downwind, of course.

Must sleep & try to catch up another time. Sweet dreams, all!

6 pages !! now i am too tired to respond.. we do have cougars in wisc.. I saw on about a year ago on hwy U.. A friend of mine was driving a casino bus and the whole busload of people saw one on hwy 51 just south of woodruff.. another friend/nieghbor saw one on hwy 29 just east of Marathon city.. the school bus driver told me that one was hanging around Little Chicago area..

I did it again.. miscalculated the hatch date for some guineas.. have about a dozen of staring at me through the acrylic bator door..

VickiW....... hope the blue coat works, I have a terrible feather picker and half my flock is covered in purple cote LOL and she is still picking I wish I knew who it is doing it I would butcher her......argg my chickens look terrible, and it isn't over crowding, or lack of space, i think this wonderful commercial feed is lacking in something............ If any one has suggestions, on what else to try I would sure appreciate them...
EL cute picture...love the running chicken and I bet the baby was thinking come over here, I want to see if your a toy.......LOl
Love the Bobcats but I'm praying they don't get too many of your chickies.......there beautiful cats, but they seem to eat alot... we have a few down here but we don't see em often.....

Good Morning everyone.

BBP & Raimnel- very cute ducklings !! I am so addicted to ducks I even have DH wanting more lol

EL - cute pic

Jim - I'm jelous of your awesome hatches. How long have you been incubating eggs?

TO - LOVE the chic, sooooo fluffy. As for the cougars, we have 3 different ones I believe that have been spotted around here but I have never seen them. Of course I'm just going by what the DNR was telling DH.

Mazo - You can keep the snakes lol No thank you. I am soooo not a snake person.

Well this morning I let everyone out about an hour early and to my surprise my breadless white silkie was crowing like crazy lol. It was seriously one of the funniest yet cutest things I have seen in a while. Now if the bearded white silkies will turn out to be a female, that would be awesome. So I'm curious, if a male silkie of one color mates with a female silkie of a different color, will the babies be muttish or will some be one color and some the other ?? Oh and I also noticed that ALL the chickens are really fiesty this morning. Most are doing the whole fluffing up and having staring contests and some are trying to step on others. Whats gotten into them? Is it a phase? They are almost 11 weeks old come monday.

Morning all!

The Chickerdoodles are complain-ie this morning! I have no idea why! Silly birds. Ben is starting to "get his crow on". He starting to sound more like a rooster everyday.
J.J. can now stand up for longer periods of time. He walks around or hops around rather but he seems content....

Amy-Thanks for the help with the hobble info.! I really appreciate it! It's amazing that in all my years of chicken ownership, I've never had to so the hobble thing. The few splays and sprattles I've had have either been severe or they were in meaties and we just put them down.

BG4F-I'm wondering if you have either a mycotoxin issue, Fowl Pox, possible Corza but usually you have discharge with Corza. If you have a mycoplasma then look for green diararhea and foamy eye and nasal discharge.

EL-That is a cute pic of your baby!

Well, I've got to go to Maynards...
Later
