Wisconsin "Cheeseheads"

Hey all, I seem to be just as busy as you are--but I sure do wish my busy work was outside! Maybe tomorrow.

I'm bummed I won't be able to make it to the cheesehead bash--everything seems to be on the 12th, and that's the last day of our family vacation!

I would like to invite everyone to a picnic the next day, however, in Milwaukee. It's for our group called Cream City Hens, and we're trying to get an ordinance change to allow backyard hens in the city. There will be facepainting, volleyball, food, and raffle!

Burgers, hot dogs, buns, and condiments will be provided.

Fun events planned with facepainting for the kiddos, and games to play (Volleyball anyone?), and meet the new chicks who will kick-off our Henbassador program. You can also check out what our booth will look like this summer, and which events we will be attending. We will also be holding a raffle for some great things, including a tee shirt and a tote with our new logo on it!!

We're holding a tshirt contest, as well! Design your own tshirt or slogan to put on a Cream City Hens shirt and if yours is voted the best you'll win a shirt with your design on it!

We will be charging $2/person to cover costs of the food.

Unfortnately I will not be able to make it this weekend. I have a wedding rehearsal in Milwaukee on Saturday afternoon and the wedding on Sunday afternoon. I was really looking forward to it. You guys have fun!

I wish I was able to keep up on here more often but I have been busy moving and trying to take care of my son and customers.

God Bless you all!

I'll check in later, have a great day everyone!

Well, I'm running back over to AlpineRanch's place this afternoon to get the two last Call ducklings from the same batch that babylady4 and I already have ducklings from. Apparently they were sold, but the person never showed, and I just couldn't resist them!

I let my little Runner and Call outside to play in the yard yesterday - they were terrified, and very vocal about wanting to go back to their safe, warm brooder, so we'll have to try again another day!

Here they are:

Have a great day, everyone! Can't wait for this weekend!

By the way - is anyone interested in some 4-week-old Mottled Cochins (2 cockerels - one that looks like he's going to be very nice quality and one that falls WAY short in the foot feather department) and a White Crested Black Polish that looks for all the world like a pullet but might be crowing? I also have a pair of 2 month old drakes (a Runner/Hookbill cross, and a Campbell/Hookbill cross) that are going to be Craigslisted sometime soon, if any of you want first dibs (and I can even bring them to the bash on Saturday) - they were supposed to go to my cousin's house, but her husband is throwing a fit about it

. I'm very attached to them, so I need them to go to a good, pet home only - I just don't have a pen to put them in right now; they won't fit in the new Mallard/Call pen I'm working on. The Hookbill/Runner guy has very pretty "Blue Dusky" coloring (they're both still in juvenile plumage):

We are hoping to camp...I hope some sites are still available when we get there on Friday! I did not make reservations...if we cant find a site we can take the camper to my mom and dad's place in Wild Rose. I really wanted to bring my horse along but DH is coming and he isnt a rider. The list has been updated on the Chickenstock thread. Please PM me with your choices if you havent already. We have some holes! I sure hope my kids can take care of everything here--I am kind of nervous about it.

I got a bunch of gardening done yesterday...got the gigantic weeds out anyhow! Why is it that the weeds seem to grow faster than the good plants? I never understood that. The goats were really happy with everything I pulled out--not a scrap left. If only I could teach them to selectively eat the weeds right from the gardens...now THAT would be neat!

Making some pot roast for dinner tonight...I have such a taste for it and it is a little chilly...got to make some more beans for the parrots too..man they love them! Right now they are giving each other head massages--it is too cute. Wonder if I should bring them to the bash?

Does anyone have a need for muskovy ducklings or young (last year's) breeders? I have had 4 hens come out this week with surprise clutches! I think I have about 25 with 4 more nests to hatch. I did have good luck yesterday--TWO groups of people came to buy goslings so I got rid of 7 more!

I have 2 more nests to go on them...the eggs might not be good though. I am actually going to catch up the remaining babies and try goose again this year. Hopefully I can get the right ones this time!

Off to get something done today! Terri O

Good morning! Well, late morning anyway...kinda cool here today and the radar says no rain but it sure is dim out! The parrots are VERY quiet...I had one out in the rain yesterday because someone said they loved to be out in a rain...she just sat and endured so I brought her back in! My guineas are raising a racket outside...maybe they found a tick hidey-hole! I found where my one female was laying so my neighbor put the eggs under his banty (wait--I think I told you all that already!) I cant keep track what I tell who any more...must be "old age" creeping up on me! That or my clients are rubbing off on me

Well--gotta get out in that garden! Terri O

(PS)

That is the weirdest thing...I posted my "today report" and the one that I wrote yesterday morning showed up after! I think I have computer ghosts! Just came back to copy the chickenstock info for my neighbor and there it was...how do you type the music from the Twilight Zone? Terri O

The call ducks are coming from a hatchery, and could come from Texas. When I saw the address on the box that it was from Texas I just about freaked. Here is a box that has been sitting on my porch all day long in the sun....... ick! In my sleep deprived state it took me a minute or two to figure out it was the BANNER and not DUCKS.

Having the kids camp in the backyard tonight. I think by Thursday when my cousins DD leaves, the kids will be happy to just sit an relax.
