Wisconsin "Cheeseheads"

Back from work and back under the fan...man it is close out there today! Only down to 70 tonight so I guess it is a house fan night again. More storms I hear too--seems like that wont happen with how blue the sky is right now! Guess that can change pretty fast when it is this hot though.

Remember that cat that my friend dropped off yesterday? Turns out he is a huge neutered Male cat (maybe I said that) that had dermatitis. I got that straight from the owners' mouths when they came to get him this morning!

I LOVE to start my day the happy way...just like DrH (only later!) So I posted the cat on Craig's List and this morning I had an email from a woman that saw a flyer about a missing black cat in the Oconomowoc area. It was posted at her vet's office. I called them and they gave me the number. Called that number and the man was home waiting to go to an appt with his wife. We talked a little and were just deciding that the cat wasnt theirs when I mentioned the missing hair. They said they had been treating him for dermatitis when he escaped from the woman who was watching him while they moved! That was in western Ocon. so we thought maybe. Well they came out and the cat was crawling all over the guy! He was purring and licking the woman! She was crying and I was just about to right along with her! He had been gone since the week before Memorial Day. They are taking him to the vet tomorrow to get his skin under control again and he might be coming to live here anyway as they do not allow cats in the new appt. building. So I had a great start to my day...she even gave me a donation for the shelter I volunteer with!

So now I am cooled off a bit and need to go outside and do some work! Later! Terri O

TO as much as I love my mornings being a cat lover there's no way I could top that story. YOU are a GREAT person, but I already knew that. Thanks!

Oh you kids! It made me think of Monty Python when I first read it, obviously brit. Have seen the mercials for HP but never indulged. Have a hard enough time trying to figure out my German/Engish heritage. German paratrooper? English paratrooper? Was it love? My mind just reels! Ish libre deish! Or morning luv, sorry I like boiled meat and don't believe in braces.

And thank you. I was happy that everyone--including the house and the neighborhood--was safe. I think the cats were very angry about being cooped up with rabbits they couldn't eat, though, because I ran into some teeny remains of wild rabbit this morning. Yum.

Evening to all... thanks for all the nice pics and the great read you all provide!

The pic will be in the mail tomorrow Doc. Should have it before long, before the weekend for sure.

Been busy like everyone. Trying to keep up with weeds in the gardens. Yep, to soggy to weed. Packs the heavy soil here like concrete if you walk in when it's wet.

Good to hear that nobody was hurt in the storm. Terri, no air cond here. Fans that point right at you when your sleeping, are soooouuuuuthing though.

AAAHHHHH do u hear that? Quite! my kids are all asleep! went outside before to close the coop door and count chickens and put some of the 11 week olds on the roost (some havent figured that out yet). I have some that are 6 weeks that are behind this chicken wire "wall" till they get bigger (I dont have to tell u guys why), anyways I'm putting the 11 week olds on the roost and I pick up this one and it is very light and small and I like what? it was one of my 6 week olds?! how on earth she got out from behind that wall is beyond me. anyways crazy crazy, be interesting if it happens again.

6 weeks old reminds me.... I got some fatties (cornish x) that are 6 weeks old and was going to ask our WI friends if any of you have a..... plucker? maybe not the worse part of buttering but it sure is stinky. so any one got one they can spare for a weekend??? say... july 10 11?!

have a good night, I had enough typing in the dark.

Good wet morning all! If we get much more rain the ditch next to the house will start holding water and that means no going outside without being sprayed up for squito's. I hate that! Can't wait to see this pic bigz, that's very nice of you to do so! Thanks! Wish I had a plucker for you to borrow raimnel I'd come help out, always eaiser and faster with help. Looks like the rain is moving off. That's a good thing. Going over to the BFF's this morning to help put the topper back on his truck so he can trade it in on a new one. And make a couple of trips with the trailer to haul the wood back here. By the end of the day the SLW's were all over the place but they were the first one's back in the coop in the evening. Only going to let them out when I can keep an eye on them. Let them roost with the big girls last night hope Peaches protected them. Going out now to check. 6 1/2 weeks old and about half the size of the hens. They do pretty well at getting getting away from them. Only a few of the hens pick on them. Usually just one whack at them and their satisfied. Have a good one!

Morning folks! My plans were canceled for today so I have all day to myself! I think I am going to go and get a new toaster at Kohl's....how exciting! Ours only works if you hold the button down. I usually use the top to the chicken bucket to hold it, but DH wont even eat toast anymore because the toaster is "broke." Man, if stuff isnt perfect....

Those storms we had here last night were awesome! I love the storms when there is just lightening and thunder and no wind. I thought it would be a great day outside today but it looks like your clouds are coming my way DrH. Shoulda kept them by you--we are just about flooded here! I guess the turkeys dont get out again! I sure hear ya about those darn skeeters!!!

Can hardly do anything out there without getting carried away. I HATE to put spray on but...sometimes there is no choice.

You should see my barrel potatoes! They are growing so tall now. The beans are planted in with them so it might be nice picking beans standing up this year! Maybe I will actually get them all picked with no aching back. I will keep you posted on this experiment...so far I have seen absolutely NO potato or bean beetles!

Gave the parrots a whole ear of corn with the shucks on for their foraging fun today...they are scared of it! The other owner must not have introduced them to much. My old parrot would have had that thing torn up and eaten already! I guess I will expose some of the corn pieces and maybe they will get the idea. They are having "morning siesta" right now...I guess I good day for it.

Suppose I oughta get off of here and try to get something done...yup, you can do ANYTHING for 15 minutes...that will be my motto for today because 15 mins are better than no mins!
