Wisconsin "Cheeseheads"

Morning all..Never got a chance to get back here yesterday, kept running and working till 10;30 PM, and then I was just too darned tired and went to bed....... did get some garden stuff done dug up my beets, and cleaned and parboiled and in the freezer, didn't need any canned did a huge batch last year, so only planted 1 short row 30 feet, today I'll do carrots if I don't get rained out............... crappy here this morning, cool, foggy as all get out, and so moist it almost seems like it's raining.........you can hear the drops on the leaves under every tree.

BigZ any luck with the chicken killers? My neighbor says to call the local taxidermist and see who has tags this year, they could trap it for ya then you could sell the pelt, she said she'd take it if ya can find someone to tag it.......... otherwise she said S>S>S, same as Jim though legally it should fall under the statue of protecting your livestock, but don't count on it the DNR here is useless.........

Jim don't matter to me what weekend ....is it suppose to rain up there??? I know it's gonna be cool, but good butchering weather if it isn't so warm...............and if we wait till the following weekend isn't that Annies weekend to work........?
Jim BTW the tractor won't run with an empty gas tank................hehehehe Glad ya didn't use the match.......

I locked my boys in the 4 x 10 long A frame pen yesterday, fed them eggs for supper along with their meat bird feed, and gonna do some extra's to fatten em up a little.......I hate to use corn though, so think I'll buy some sunflower seeds, and use up my rolled oats, I hope my DIL can get me those again this year, Sturms has new owners again and they have been tight with the animal feed, used to be able to get 100 # for a buck, but haven't been able to get it since spring...............supposedly there isn't any, I think the new guys are trying to save a buck and are using it off the floor, cuz It don't seem normal not to have any....theirs been tons of it for years......... crooked people, these days god only knows what we are eating, or feeding our critters........ no wonder there is so many recalls on food and critter food....because instead of doing the right thing, they are doing whats cheapest..........

Anyway better go feed them chickies, I hear crowing so they must be up and out and about......Later all.......Kim

Good Morning Everyone! Just a few comments and out to the woods. Jim I always find it weird that a gas engine won't run without it. Have tried to learn to check that first but haven't got the hang of it yet.Bigz WOW a pair of bob's, Not unusual hope you get things taken care of! I really hate this laptop! I gotta go.

Morning everyone!!!

Now I have to get outside and finish my outside work before the weather turns to puke. Got the gardens done and the garlic bed prepped but now I have to around and round up all the stuff that got scattered over the property this summer before it gets snowed on

Wow, are my poor chookies in for a shock tomorrow

Still trying to remember the name of the stuff you can put on chickie booboo's that helps feathers grow back too, any one remember???

Morning All...yep a real foggy and dreary day here too.
Great pics bl4 you did a great job sharing the bash with us that didn't make it!

Prolapse can be hard to cure....isolation in a dark area to keep her from laying after you clean and push back in with a little preperation H might help her heal....the laying eggs will not allow the vent muscles time to heal...hope that made sense?

I was gonna say Jim...did you check the gas? Now that's funny. I'll bet she is gonna pop right off with a little fuel.

Glad your kitty is doing better CC.

Gotta love that Tommy TO!

No help from the DNR...left messages with the DNR animal biologist at Waupaca...he is off til Monday.....nope none of the hens made it....the big cats grab their prey by the neck and bite hard enough to break them....no trapping of Bobcats south of hwy 64...ARE you kidding me?

They lurk in the cover along the sides of the lawn and don't come out unless the chickens are wandering around...they won't just walk in the open, unless they are going to run out and grab a bird....I have a real dilemma here...yep it's the adults teaching the young to hunt at my expense.

My birds are on lockdown now til I can figure something out...no free rangeing here for awhile.

Thanks for the kind words sent my...anyone want a family of Bobcats?

Later... bigz

Vic, the only thing I can think of offhand for boo-boos is Blue-kote, but I don't know if it helps feather regrowth. Sorry I'm not much help.
Were you the one who wanted Valbazan? If you ever get to the Townsend area, I could bring you some.

Judge, put on them big girl booties, lube that thing up & shove it back in there! And keep her in a darker area for awhile so her body isn't stimulated to want to produce eggs. You can do it. If you don't she is just going to suffer.

Well, gotta get my boots on & go clean out the coop. Fun! Have a great day! Where is Terri?

So sory about your kitty problems Bigz.

I don't know how many birds you have, but couldn't you make them a temporary run with some welded wire fencing & t posts? I know it probably wouldn't withstand a determined pred, but it would be somewhat of a deterrant. You're right that she is most likely teaching her young to hunt & is picking the easiest target she can find. If she had to deal with a fence, maybe she would move on? Keeping your chooks inside is definitely the best to deter her, but after you think the coast is clear, maybe a fenced in run would be a good option for a few days just to be certain? Then they can go back to free ranging. Just a thought.

WHERE IS FRENCHIE.?????

WHERE IS TERRI.????

WHERE ARE MY PANTS??? (Just kidding, I know right where they are ;))

I got my fall egg shipment today! YAHOO! I got 6 Cream Legbars, 9 Lemon Cuckoo Orpingtons, and 14 white Ameracuanas. (Saving the wheaten Ameracaunas to get from Unk). I'm going to let them sit for a day or two then pop them in the Bator. FUN! But this is the only batch. I'm not brooding chickens in the house for months. No thanks....

I'm off to get the youngest from big boy school. Big deal with him yesterday: he used the potty chair for the first time (and it was at school!) I tell you, when a boy has delays the last thing to happen is using a toilet. It will be nice when he finally comes around to losing the diapers. I've only been buying diapers since 1999 with no break.....

Hey all!
Sorry I missed a few posts! Woke up yesterday with a migraine from H E-double L that came special delivery from Hades. It's been, well, years, since I've actually had one wake me up in the wee hours of the night. Those are always the worst for me. Spent the day ignoring pretty much the whole universe. Today is a little better although my head is still aching and humming. Won't stay in the computer long. I might actually try to eat toast today.

Other then that, not much to report. Everyone seems good and well!

Chat later....or tomorrow....

Need to add to my splitting pile next. Bryan is coming over next week to help. ChooksChicks hope they find your friend! Keep us posted please. CC hope Ramses can continue to do well! Oh MLH that must be horrible! My oldest DD gets them, I know they can be very debilitating. Vic the only thing you have to worry about is staying away from the fire pit after dark. I wouldn't go there after dark.
