Wisconsin "Cheeseheads"

My brussels never get big enough to bother before it snows when I grow them here. Perhaps because we have no soil. Sand 80 feet down according to the well guy

Well get composting then! We were all clay and used up farm fields....now it is excellent dirt! C'mon out and take some of my pile home and make some raised beds...we can get you some veggies!
Man, is it ever crappy outside! Wet and wet! Locked up the feathered people and got my pants totally muddy. I locked Commander inside...he is such a baby in rain--gets all shivery and shakey if he is wet. I hope he stays inside this time!
Meatloaf, spaghetti squash, broccoli (too muddy to get the brussels) and boiled new potatoes with basil pesto. I might make hollandaise too. Dinner at 7 if anyone is in the vicinity!

Pork steaks on the Grill here tonight; with a side of tater tots, homemade kraut, and mixed veggies (guess who was cooking tonight).

I wish I had my camera in hand this morning on my way to work. The intermittent fog banks combined with the rising sun made for some gorgeous photography scenes.

Trying to figure out when I am going to bake 125 mini cupcakes..... they have to be done by Saturday (frosted too)..... and I am hoping I can avoid the icky stomach bug that seems to be going around. I really cannot afford to get sick this week!

Time to eat and then watch Castle.

TTFN!

Evening To All..yep, glad to see you back in action frenchie! Sorry about your Auntie, may she truly rest in peace.

Started to break in the new saw today...cut a truck load of ash and still have a half tank of gas left. Sure worked nice. New toys are fun! Then split prolly a cord or so of elm. Need to make room for the fresh cut stuff.

Tonight it was Vegetable Bear soup made with the aujus from the roast...added some corn, kohlrabi, tomatoes, barley, onions, celery, and prolly a lb of carrots, and alphabet noodles...it was so delishious...worthy of many dollars per bowl.

I use some of the leaves in the coops...I can mow some of the leaves, but where my sugar maples are you can wade through the leaves...even moving them off the grass is a big job. I need one of those trucks the cities use to suck em up....they could get a few loads here for sure.

Best Wishes for Donny....nothing worse than being in the Hospital. A bad day at home doesn't seem so bad when you compare it to being there, eh!

Cute kitten pics Cind. They sure grow fast.

Rain here to later today around 4:30. Glad I had the wood thrown in the basement I split today.

Time for the lazyboy.... bigz

We have owned this property for 20+ years and have hauled leaves and compost and veggie matter for all that time and if we till it up it is still mostly sand. If that is not enough we are also a weed farm...um I mean we have a 16+acre prairie restoration to the west of our garden blowing in seeds year round. Our prairie is beautiful and has a 1/2 mile mowed path around for walking riding and watching the prairie change and grow throughout the year. We have good luck with tomatoes, broccoli, beans, squash, pumpkins and sunflowers.

I gotta shut up now or they will take away my lurking permit.

So what was your answer to L, DrH? How many warm, purry little furballs are going to be snuggling up to you on those long, cold winter nights?

I hope all is well with Donny. Nothing but the best of wishes being sent his way.

Vicki, worm away. Between molting season & the reduced daylight hours (lowers egg production), now is a great time to worm your flock. I buy greens at the store over winter for my girls. I've tried growing grass indoors, but the cats eat it down to nothing worse than the chickens do!

I still say Noodle is a girl.

JJ, lurking just isn't as much fun as participating. Join in anytime.

Bigz, that soup of yours sounds like heaven for sure. Yum! I know what you mean about your maple leaves. I have the same problem up north. I'd love to get a rake for our ATV.

Pork ribs, baked potatoes, corn & fresh bread for dinner here tonight. And it is just pouring like the dickins out there! Where the heck was all this rain all darn summer?

Oh well. The trees need it now too to hold them over through winter. They've been stressed enough for one year. I still have much to do before bed so I better get at it. Sweet dreams, all!

BigZ, I have 4 helpers not too far away who would LOVE to clean up your leaves for you........

It would be good for them.

Well, I never did get to watch Castle..... kids kept coming in and chit-chatting. I guess it gives me something to do tomorrow night.

Gave my Boss his gift today, he loved it! I told him my kids loved checking out the bottle, it is really cool to look at a glass skull.....

Trying to shoo the BF out the door...... it is like trying to unstick superglue....

Time to hit the hay.....
