Wisconsin "Cheeseheads"

Jim, I am sure the neighbors want me to catch them s they don't have to hear me swear at the little chickies.
Vickiw- where do I get ball and chains.

Have a great night

You boys are too funny. Thanks for the chuckles. I needed that tonight.

I'm really glad you got one of your girls back, David. I'm keeping my fingers crossed the last one comes home too. Keep doing what you're doing, only ask one of the kids to tape you running around the subdivision cursing at a tiny little chicken. Where the neighbors may find humor, only we will truly appreciate your tactics and efforts.

Woke up this morning to Ezmerelda dead in one of the nest boxes.

Died just as mysteriously as her sister Alice back in spring. So much for my Aussies. I do have 3 of her daughters from Moose, though. Poor girl. I'm really going to miss her. She had beautiful eyes.

Sorry to be a downer. Going to take something & try to sleep. Night all.

I think he should learn how to swear in Japanese. Then he sounds REALLY smart to the neighbors, and the birds know they're in deep shhhhhhhhttttt... (Since they're Japanese bantams you see)

Or simply just yell random Japanese words at the birds, that could work too. "oh habachi saki sushi Toyota!" The birds will surely perk up I think!

Good night all.

4 eggs today out of my 10 hens is the best they have done since sept. My cochins are carrying the load for egg production lately

We went to the Madison children's museum this weekend to check on the bobwhite quail that we donated.

They are doing great. The kids seem to dig em. I will try to post some pics tomorrow.

I know I shouldn't have but the kids begged me and I picked up 4 new chickens tonight. I think they are black stars. Can't wait to get a good look at them in the morning :)

Hi all!

CC.... sorry to hear about Ezmerelda

oto... hope you find your last hen....Maybe you could crow like a rooster to get her attention.... in Japanese of course.

GR.... Hope DH's first day went well.

DrH... Glad Donny will have a place to sit when he gets home!.... Good Job!

I think my favorite squash is acorn squash.

Guess that's it... boring here.

Night All!

Good Morning everyone

Ghostrider technically I am not the first post of the day, some of us go to bed really really late. How did your husbands first day go.

CC I am sorry about Esmerelda

bf4m I will swear in Spanish, My Japanese isn't what it used to be, I haven't spoken it in 20 years.

well today, I am going to try fresh frozen corn and seeds, I hope today is the last day of the hunt. I still think she is long gone or a very good hider. I never realized how they are so much like turkeys. I suppose because they are true Bantams and not shrunken down chickens. The weather is still nice, I was out with the dogs a few minutes ago and it is actually dry and warmish out.

Menards has an 11% sale, I should run there and get some chicken wire and lumber and try to enclose the open run sometime before the snow flies.

Have a good day

David

Quail pictures

TerriO wil recognize the young man in the second photo in that he has explored just about every nook and cranny of her property, and chased, picked up, or poked at most of her animals.

The extremely large forehead(more like a five head really) sticking up over the barn is me.

Morning everyone......... haven't done chores yet being lazy today stayed up till almost 1am, to bake cookies for Adams lunch.....made peanut butter, and chocolate chip a double batch of each took forever to bake them........ Lol Adam was out 20 minutes after he ate supper, but after almost a 14 hour day he was exhausted............ he started at 6 am and got home a little after 9pm........ very long day for him, but everything went well and the trainer wasn't as much of a nightmare as he had been told to expect. So I thought I'd up the odds of his second day going well too, and sent extra cookies for Paul the trainer. Women can be so evil, when we know those little secrets like the quickest way to a man heart is through his stomach.............. hehehe

David so glad you got almost all your chickies back, seems a bit odd that only 1 of 2 showed up in the pen loaners usually stick together,, and I'm thinking that might be because something got the other and she was alone..... I pray I'm wrong.........and hope she still shows up in the pen today.......... Yah I think I would get that run covered quickly or and maybe clip there wings so they don't fly so well....... might help avoid another fly away.....

CC so sorry about Esmeralda.......... poor little girl. I hate when that happens ya feel so guilty wondering what ya missed, or didn't do.......... but as Jim says they sometimes just turn up 6 toes up...... sad though I love my chickies, and am still wonder what happened to peepers, though now that my 3 SS have molted and I actually took a good look at them yesterday I think Snowflake is actually the one gone......... Peepers is here but molted with so many new white speckles that I thought she was Snowflake. Still very sad because Snowflake was a very nice girl too and so pretty with all those speckles.
Again so sorry for your loss.......hugs are already sent.........

BigZ I swear if you don't stop teasing me with all those yummy meals I'm coming up there to clean out your freezer............. :D

Judge congrats on the new chickies, BSL's are great layers and pretty friendly chickens, I think the kids will like them alot.... I love mine and they lay tremendous amounts of eggs...I think my Daphne has laid and egg everyday from the time she started to molt this year and she is now almost 2 years old in March.... and nice big ones too...... at least my 3 girls seem to do that, I havde read it depends on what was used for the cross. I got mine at TSC last spring and all 3 are a bit different, but lay well and are good foragers, and quite friendly.

BigFam, I think you are hilarious somedays.... laughed my butt off at your post...hehehe Japanese huh, makes sense though maybe that's why they ran away, they couldn't understand what David was saying.....conversion to English was something like hey get your arses out a here.... instead of what he was actually saying like you little buggers get back here or your stew..LOL or maybe they just heard the word stew........

Well Jim if Adam gets a load to Kansas maybe he could pick up the pup......... will see where they send him after today.........notysure how much business they have there though...... can't recall Jayme going there at all. But we can hope........... sounds like a cute pup and Bear and that pup would be more correct in the body style and big square head......... Max to me just looks like MOM....... just a little stinker version LOL.... Glad the guy picked up the Ollie and I still think it is just something stupid and not the bearings size, I can't image the guy would screw that up, but I guess it is possible.

So anyway best get to chores the horses are probably starving, over night is there longest time without food, during the day they get 4 feedings but have to suck it up so I can sleep during the over night..... so later all.... have a wonderful day..............Kim
