ugh... boy do I have it bad... looking at the hatching eggs and day olds on here and even ebay... bad stuff.
Might have to do easter hatch..guess it depends if I am employed or not by then.
Want to try to find some more silkie eggs to add to our stock. We have the splash roo and then the two blacks(one show quality, one pet) and a white show quality. The roo is just mean otherwise he would be at the house, but he hates my kids and even went after me once. NO can do!
Saw some interesting eggs on ebay... they were frizzle eggs from a big red chicken. Didnt list breed, just big red chicken with the frizzle gene. My guess is sex link, but love that it would have frizzle gene.
So come spring, we may have some silkie eggs, duccle and speckled sussex eggs that would be pure to trade!

anyway.. that is where my mind is on this cold day..on hatching some eggs.

You should join the Easter hatch!! If you get to many, you can always give them, trade them at the outing!!

Might have to... just got to source some hatching eggs....my current speckled sussex roo is not sure what he is supposed to be doing. Have yet to see him vist those girls and he is 10 months old.

BigFam...that incubatoris still as dirty as when you gave it to me! I havent been to the store to get bleach yet to get it cleaned up! Now, had it been properly put away and stored...it might have been full of eggs by now!

Tomorrow is the "big day" for the meaties...I will be sad to see them go and yet not sad. I will need to do the wonderful job of cleaning out that stall so I can get my pregnant goats in there! I would really like to have their babies live this year! If I dont have luck with them again I am going to dump the whole mess and be done with goats and sheep. I feel like I need a break from some of those critters...maybe so I can get some more chickens!

I had much else to reply to but after reading 59 posts and then going outside for a few hours most has been lost!
When I took my client to her PT yesterday I forgot my glasses in the car (I had my sunglasses on) I felt like such a dope having sunglasses on in the hospital! I had to keep taking them off when I would talk to people. THen the client's DH came in too! He reprimanded me. Not about the sunglasses but that I was there to ASSIST not TELL what to do! Good grief! The therapist and I were bouncing ideas off of each other as to the best way to help the client. PT is fine but if you are the person helping the client in their home and know what the situation is; you are in a better position to know what they need. I think therapists realize this and always seem grateful when I share information with them. When he got back to the house he said he hoped I didnt take offense.

Tonight I am going with my friend to her agility dog training class. She wants me to join and train with her so we can do the trials together. Not sure if I have the proper dog though....this might give me an excuse to get that new pup...

Well, better get some food on for dinner...and for the "after butcher party" tomorrow! We're shooting for 10 to start...anybody else wanna come?
The radio says we have winter warnings again, nothing here yet. In fact it's 20 on the porch! I was thinking that spring must be here! I guess not yet--have a good one! TerriOwonderingwhattomakeforsupperagain

Hopefully I'll set a dozen Lavender Orps, a dozen mottled and black javas, 6 silver pencilled barred rocks, 6 swedish flower hens, perhaps some of my wheaten marans,
Oh and 6 Polish...

WEll Terri... I was going to need that incubator for the Easter hatch a long. But if you're gonna fart around with it, I may have to buy me a hovabator genesis with my first pay check

I'll be joining the Easter Hatch too.... just not sure what I'll be setting yet. Have to line up some of the swaps that I have coming. I will throw in some of my SFH eggs for sure.

Oooooo...Easter Egg Hatch sounds fun. I have access to a very nice incubator (my bosses) that he's not using this year and said I could - but I really think I'm just going to have to ooohhhh and aaahhh over all your baby chicks. I really need to make sure I'm not getting in over my head to fast. I wish I lived closer to you Lav. Orp ladies...I just love my roo so much and if the hens are 1/2 as nice as he is - that's what I want my main flock to be. My friend order for us some Khaki ducks we'll get later on. I had her throw on two Indies pullets on the order too. I'm trying them out - just getting a few and see how it goes with the labs and such. I want to keep them in the orchard to help be more of a natural pesticide out there. We always run the sprinklers out there - so they'll like that too. They'll have about 2 acres all to themselves - with visits from the chickens. My chickens like to hang out there during the day too. My house/property is a 5 acre pennisula ontop of a riverbluff. I might have to have a big party with everyone drinking lots and lots of stuff and have all the men "mark off" the yard to keep the predators away.

So hey...I'm going to post some more photo's of my chicks. Four of my 16 chicks have some strange feathering going on. They seem "rough" Frizzles? there was a possiblity in the order.
My poor Little Peep looks rough. He's totally pinning out. He seems to be a silkie cross - the feathers are fuzzy after they start opening. So here they are - what do you all think?
1.) Little Peep - silkie cross? 2.) Penguin - chicks all same age - his wing feathers just coming in Roo? 3...and others...) Rosie who is very different - her feathers are very rough ...and so is Posie's and Dove's..the photo's of the wings. Otherwise - every other chick has normal smooth looking feathers...Just this little group looks so different. What do you think?
