LOL! Right there with ya BigFam! About ready to head out myself, but I thought I would chek in here ( and read ANOTHER 5 pages since last night!).

Ghost, to hide any damage marks I think I would distress the finish, do some sanding to get the poly down, go over the table with a darker stain to bring out the distress marks, and then poly it again. Definitely put the tiles on a piece of wood or something similar.

Jim, finding someone who is skilled at replacing caning (it is really caning not wicker) is difficult. It is an art and one that we are losing. It requires special tools and a lot of patience. Easier to just pop out the rest.

Ok, off to go get the sled dogs out and mush off to work!

God will someone just shoot mother nature already !!!!!!!!!!!!! I'am SO SICK of winter I could puke ........... its blowing and drifting out here like crazy and the weather man is so full of sh!t 2 inches overnight my big ole butt!! I have a 3 foot drift in my driveway already, a broken 4 wheeler so I can't even get it out of there Adam is on 39 headed North to Stevens point he's been driving since 3:30 am, says stay safe everyone the roads are a nightmare...............what you can see of them anyway..........
I broke the pull cord on the ATV the last round of crap and I have no idea how to fix it, no rope that size or I would pull it apart and try, because he will be coming home today or tomorrow and there's no way in H e double toothpicks he can back that trailer through that drifted snow into our driveway..........right about now I'll take that 100 degree heat of summer...............argh grumble grumble...............

So anyway I'm awake too darn early today woke up at 5 30, kids school called with a 2 hour delay in IA, here everything appears to be closed...
TG because I wasn't looking forward to the drive to Clintonville for the boy.......CTY I leaves alot to be desired on a good day, what a holey bumpy terrible mess that 1 is......... Well at least the plows are trying to keep up so far this am..........
Fed everyone already this morning, the chickens where not happy to see more snow and wind, cuz its blowing out of the East right into the garage so they are locked in again today........ poor girls..........and now so am I, and I finally have everything done around here, cleaning the basement led to spring cleaning upstairs so when and if spring ever gets here I can devote all my time to my yard and garden, and removing the winter supply of horse dung........LOL

Well our boarders moved a bunch of stuff in again last night, didn't pull out of here until 11pm, they also hauled a load over to the storage unit they had to rent, and were hoping to do more today, but with these roads I hope they decide to wait. They did stop and buy one of those walmart style, electric efficiency ceramic heaters? 89 bucks, not sure how well they work? anyone know? and anyone wanna guess how much that might raise my already ridiculous electric bill? ( 269.00) last month.... I heard they take pennies a day, but is it true?

So anyway keep idea's coming for the table, I will take a few more pictures today of the wicker part and post em later, for right now I think I'm gonna make some biscuits and gravy for breakfast.......... later all, stay safe BigFam, the roads are yuck!!! and anyone else driving into work this am be careful and come home safe....... For your table Kim, my hubby uses dooohiggies to pull the corners together. He staples on the bottom for a better hold. I agree with distressed look! A family member did it, looks great! Maybe a dremal for the bottom... makes a good edge. If your looking to do tiles, he'd agree secure them to a base that would fit into the area you dremal out....

I am supposed to go to Merrill and pick up our beef.. I am not afraid of the weather, but IDK if the road edges are well defined.. I have a problem with that..

Kim, do not start anything with your table until you are absolutely clear of what you are going to from start to finish.. I am not a fan of distressing the wood.. the corners are a result of humidity, (lack of).. I also would not be in a hurry to remove the finish.. like I said, have a complete plan in hand going into it..

when this snow is done, I am going to go at the peacock pen again.. I will have to plow the work site again..

I talked to my brother yesterday,.. He is willing to help me with the assembly.. and my DD#1 said she will bring grandson with her to help also..

I am going to be sooooo far into favor debt after this one..

I will open up the coops, and let the birds decide if they want to come out or not...

I remember someone I knew years ago had a table like yours, Ghost. Very nice piece. What about an Amish woodworker? If you can find one, take them some pics and see if they could at least notch out the areas to lay the tiles into?
