Wisconsin "Cheeseheads"

Judge... I was thinking of doing the same exact thing on the outer wall of my new chicken room! Great minds ;)

Deli... I would be more than happy to take those extras I think. How many did you get? I especially love the BLRW and have been watching the swaps for them, but I'm not fast enough! Looks like I am this time... :D

And yes folks, the master painter here (HA!) is going to do something fantastic outside my new chicken room. I still need to get pics on here. Hard for the excitement to show with no pics!

Oh and I picked up one of the new chicks and it already has feathered legs! That is going to be one good looking chicken! Fuzzy little yellow legs and feet, so sweet. I'm trying to get more APA typing on a rooster, so I'll be keeping any Marans I hatch out for a while.

OH and I forgot, my main roo has not been sleeping with the flock in the coop. He's all alone in a corner sleeping on hay. I'm afraid he's going to die and then I'll only have the really bad type rooster to breed from. And that one is so submissive I haven't seen him do the drill. Now I'm getting nervous like I better gather eggs and pop them in a bator while I still have the blue wheatens DNA contribution!

Gotta get up and do the work thing. Kristi you should apply to Dean for every part time thing you can find!!!

Quote: I have blue/black/splash, these are about 75% English type so will be nice and big and fluffy. I just hatched them on New Years so it will be a bit yet before they are ready to lay.

Good evening all. Getting the stray rabbit from cuties DH tomorrow. I've never raised rabbits but have done some research. ...I would like to know what those of you that have rabbits do for food. I have read 1/3 timothy hay, 1/3pellets (possibly optional), 1/3 fresh greens daily. Any opinions?
Find out what the rabbit is currently eating and go from there, any new foods introduced should be done a little at a time so not to cause digestive problems for the rabbit( running poop etc). Kind of like when you 1st start offering different foods to a baby. We feed a grassy hay/timothy free choice so they can eat as much or as little as they want and about 3 oz pellets am and pm- but we raise Californian which are 8-10 ibs as adults. If the rabbit isn't use to getting fresh greens be very careful when feeding as this can cause problems. A good book to read is Storey's Guide to raising Rabbits.

Have fun with your new pet

BigFam - wasn't your last broody a Wh. Marans??

Cause it looks like one of mine went broody now too. I will check on her today to see if she's still setting, this will be day 3 for her. I pulled the eggs from her so far and just gave her some golf balls to keep her happy. Thinking I'll give her some of the SFH eggs to hatch, they are the only pure eggs I have right now. Need to set up a broody nest area for her too.

Good Morning!

Cindy thinking of letting Kissy go through her first heat before she walks the plank. Don't know why just am. Thought Toby hated the buzz he had yesterday but he was lookin for nip this morning. Junkie mofo! Put him in a cat bed on the floor when I got him home went in the kitchen. He got up and I thought he was going for food or potty but came right to me, falling down the whole way. So he's not blaming me.

Feeding back shells and oyster. Things to do.

Good morning chicken scratch! I give him free grain! He's gotten a bit chunky;-) but he was so thin when we found him... I also give him a bit of timothy about 3-4 days a week. Everything fresh we eat goes to the bunnies :) meaning ends of celery, carrots, radish, etc....
Lmk if you have ?s! I'm sure hubby will not be very helpfully today lol

Does anyone know about a guy in Marshfield, WI that does breeding? His farm name is Empire Family Farm and I found the last name of Sternweis. He has many breeds. Any info would help. I don't want to invest in poor quality chicks.
