I know a lady who is convinced her son is autisitic, even though his doctor has not labeled him as such. I had to babysit him one day and she was worried about what I was going to feed him because she takes him to McDonalds EVERY DAY for chicken mcnuggets!!! No way. She said he wouldn't eat anything else. My response was when he gets hungry enough he'll eat what is offered. He wanted a snack and I offered him 3 different kinds of crackers. He wouldn't eat any. He changed his mind a little while later when his stomach was growling. I don't make my kids eat foods that they really dislike, but when kids have it narrowed down to 2-3 very unhealthy things that they will eat that is not ok. Feeding junk food is not helping them physically or mentally. And the parent is only making things worse for themselves in the long run. BTW, this is the same lady with the dogs that got shot. I still haven't figure out who did that.

No luck on the missing chicken, her name is/was Princess. I guess it would be stupid to leave them out like I used to. For now I am trying to only let them out after I get home around 6:00 and I put the terrier out there with them. I checked all the evergreens in the area, no luck. Those of you that let your girls free range do you just accept that you will lose some? This is the first time in two years. When you only have five, that is 20%.

Is it too early to replace her? I guess I would need two if I am introducing new chickens. Does anyone have any POL pullets ready or almost ready? I tried the person on Craigslist but I am not getting an answer. I don't want to push it with six. My coop is 4x6 inside, it is elevated so there space under it and then a 3x6 pen on the end. There is around five foot of roost space.

Hi,
Thanks for the info on the BLRW! Pretty! Cute chicks too!

Went out to feed and water and noticed one of my hens was having trouble breathing. Couldn't see anything, none of the other had an issue. Her croop was empty but she was gasping badly! Within a half hour she was dead. I'll open her up later to see if I can find anything. She was a cool year old hen too. A pretty blue Cochin cross.

So sorry for the loss Donner. I can understand, I only have 4full grown and 3 chicks right now myself. It's spring time and everything has babies to feed including the predators so I watch my girls so close they are never out without me.

Fish Fry Friday To Everyone... Nice to see a little sun today.

Thanks for the update on Twain and MLH Becky. Nice of him to offer the goodies for the raffle.
Great bird pics, thanks for sharing.

Bagged a nice longbeard Wed Morning. I have another tag for next week. Nice to hear and watch the woods wake up in the springtime.

Sorry about the losses. I've had my share over the years for sure. I do have a light brahma that turned 8 years old this week....must have the lucky longevity gene. She still free ranges daily with the others.

Thanks for sharing the other pic too. Nice to see your flocks.

Hopin I can dig out the daisy dukes tomorrow...tis the season.

My lavender Orpington rooster escaped today and he and the Iowa Blue apparently got into it. The lavender is less than a year old, the Iowa blue is 3 so his spurs are very long. But I can't tell who came out the winner, they were both pretty bloody. I wasn't home when it happened.
