Thanks for the help Zeke! I knew replies would be slow d/t the bash. thanks for sharing with me how you do it.
I've been looking around the house here to see what I can use for a temp run. I know I have some extra chicken wire here, but getting it posted is going to be my challenge. I may stop in to Farm and Fleet to see what I can find for a reasonable price. If nothing else, I'll just let them out in the late afternoon so hopefully they won't want to be out for too long.
LOVE your avatar pic!
Another question, are there any treats they will absolutely love?

TRAUMA and DRAMA!!

TRAUMA - Yesterday when I rounded up the flock ahead of some thunder and black clouds, I noticed one of my little reds was missing. I closed the others up in the coop and went all over calling for her. She was nowhere to be seen. So I feared the worst but didn't see any feathers and the rest of the wrecking crew was not acting nervous. When the hubs got there later in the day he also looked around and he happened to look through the window of the tractor shed. There she was just sitting on the ground. She must have gotten in through a small opening near the door and then couldn't get back out. She was dazed and in shock, unable to stand on her own legs - I think she might have been dehydrated and so scared she was traumatized. It took dipping her beak in water several times before she swallowed anything and I'm not sure that she's had anything solid to eat. When I closed them up for the night she was huddled behind the door and was still shaky. I lifted her up to the bottom rung of the perch and she seemed to be able to hold on OK. Today she was not much better. She was huddled in a corner but able to stand. I worry that she's not going to recover from this. Anyone have any advice?

DRAMA - Danny Boy has been getting a little more bold and I've been worried that he would go after someone. The flock likes to "greet" everyone who pulls into the parking lot - they're actually looking for a handout. Danny has been acting a bit more aggressive and he seems to try to charge people lately. Well today I was getting something out of the barn for a customer and my friend Jane came along and waited outside for me. All of a sudden I heard a blood curdling scream
ep.gif
and first thought maybe she'd stepped on one of the hens as they're always getting underfoot. Turns out Danny attacked her leg and did some damage. I cleaned the wounds and patched her up and I now have to find a place to keep him until the chicken run or backyard fence gets finished. Tomorrow I'm going to get the chicken tractor out of the barn and drag his fluffy little arse into it for the duration. He went after the hubs again this evening and he's sizing him up for the stew pot if I don't get him tucked away.

It sounds like all you bashers had a wonderful time at Chickenstock! I'm sooooo sorry I missed it!

We could have fed those watermelons to the kids...... or I would have liked to have a slice, they are my favorite!

We are in Rochester right now...... going to try and go for broke and get to the Badlands by tomorrow afternoon........ Should be interesting.

I am on lousy internet at the campground, or I would post the LOVELY pic I have of BigFam....... it is worth seeing.

CC, I would have loved to check out your nifty new camper, that thing was really cool!

I hope we are able to pop in and say hello next year..... I am SOOOOOOOOO bummed that we will probably have to miss it!

Anyway, you all have a great evening!

DrH, I am so, so sad to hear about Taz.

I feel your pain. It is so darn hard to be in that situation.

we never thought to count all the people at the bash.. It would be great if each of you in your next post would just mention it..
say it like:

Jim ...
Bigzio spouse 1, children 1
Robin spouse 1

at the beginning of your post..

I will keep a running count and come up with the total ..

.......willbebacklater.................
Hmmm........ sounds like you don't need my info.

And as for thinking up your white elephant gift for next year, that's a good idea. Then you'll have 364 more ideas as you forget it and move on to the next one.

You're just lucky DH got to get a good look at it (in the short time he had it) and is going to make some.

Bummer about your pan. I hope it gets found soon. Hopefully none of the kids used it as a frisbie?

Your raffle pic was just beautiful!

Ghost, it was great talking to you & your fam at the bash. I feel so bad you froze your keester last night. That wind was terrible. I had an extra blanket along too. I wish I had known. You could have used it.

A ride this summer sounds great! We're looking forward to it.

Mel, thank you, thank you, thank you for the cherries, soda & soap, and all your hard work cleaning everything up!
hugs.gif
I wish we would have gotten around to the wine tasting (yeah, you can all just shush now
wink.png
) because we could have sampled the cherries too. I know Tommy was bitterly disappointed to miss out on them this year. Maybe then he would have slept in a little later? Oh, and note to self....... next year when Terri & Derek pull up, wave them by instead of suggesting they take the spot next to us.

That or eat the cherries, and share lots with the rooster! Whaddya mean you didn't get to see the trailer? Really? What a bummer. The grand tour takes a whole of 3 1/2 seconds, ya know.

Oh well. Guess you'll have to make it to the bash next year so we can do a walk-through. I hope you have a wonderful family trip.

Terri, thanks again for the hackberry! I have wanted one for years. And thank you, Amy, for the heliopsis.

Vicky, I'm bummed I didn't get a chance to chat with you much. And I definitely wanted to get a better look at all your birds, but there always seems to be so much going on at the same time. I had a very nice, albeit too short, conversation with your DH. He is very nice. I loved that cage he made.

BBP, are your chocolates banties?

Irish, I am so sorry Danny is being such a terrible $h!t for you. If he doesn't get an attitude adjustment, FrenchToast just got 6 of my lav chicks. I'm sure she would be glad to spare a roo. I think a timeout for a few days in solitary is exactly what he needs. I hope your hen will be ok for you. Give her some vitamins/electros in her water for a couple days to help recharge her system. You could give her a light to huddle under on these chilly evenings. Heat really does seem to help when birds aren't feeling well.

Sandi, all is well with your hen. She was very well behaved on the ride home. She is all nestled in her new digs. I can't wait to introduce her to Floyd. He's going to be one happy little dude. I hope your lavs are ok & behaving for you?

Ok, must sleep now! Sorry to everyone I missed. Sweet dreams, all!

Wow, that was a Frenchie post for sure!

Sorry!

Bigz, you are the absolute bestest!

Cannot thank you enough for getting this started. It just never seems to last long enough. And your raffle donation was jaw dropping awesome!
