We are up for a picnic

as far as smoking goes, The e cig seems to follow the advice I give others as to how I quit cold turkey. Step 1 Stop lighting them. Step 2. Find something to do to keep your hands busy.

Anyone who quits smoking should find another hobby because you have all this time that you used to spend smoking, buying smokes, planning to not run out of smokes, finding the cheapest smokes etc.

And sometimes there are added treasures to being an ex-smoker. This past weekend we booked a hotel room through Priceline which gives you no choice of rooms. When we arrived to check in all that was available for rooms with 2 beds was a smoking room. I talked the guy at the desk" Patrick" about being an ex-smoker and having a reaction to cig smoke. He told me he was also an ex-smoker and had the same problem. After about 5 minutes of exchanging stories, he upgraded us to a 2 room suite with a pull out couch for no extra charge. Later I passed the front desk to hear the guy who works after Patrick explaining the whole "the only room we have left with 2 beds is a smoking room, and how bad do you want 2 beds?"

Patrick is my hero of the week!

JJ
Two cheers for Patrick

I too am an ex smoker and very much agree with the hobby suggestion. I found I would light up when board, or eat!! Just seem to have to keep the hands and mouth busy ... I realized I opened the door fully with that comment. OK peeps have at it

Good afternoon everyone and I hope everyone had a great Father's Day. My husband when to go pick up my son down in San Antonio for his leave and they got to spend Father's Day together. I got to stay home and clean the house, but my daughter and her Fiancé have been staying over and keeping me company.

BabyLady - As far as e-cigs go there is a shop in Appleton on Oneida St. called E-Vapor of Appleton. They have everything you could ever need and can advise you what to buy. I have been on an e-cig for a long time, 1.5 years. I usually order all my stuff on-line because it cheaper, but the first time it helps to go to the store. Sometimes I still cheat and smoke, but my husband never cheats and smokes. I use and Ego Joy-C battery (I think that's it) with a Clearomizer. It's always hard to describe what to buy to people because e-cigs can get very complicated and very technical. My daughter and her fiancé also recently switched to e-cigs. My brother in law uses one instead of dipping now, and I got my neighbor on one. Better than smoking, but still not totally healthy. Your just getting 3-5 chemicals instead of 4,000.

Had some chicks hatching this weekend. Didn't go great. Only 50%. These are the last batch of eggs that went through the turner being unplugged. They were unplugged for the first 8 days and tilted hard left. Lots of stuck to the side quitters, but luckily some hatched and I didn't buy these.

Both my Langshan hens went broody on me. One has been sitting on some of TO's Buckeye eggs for 2 weeks. Then the other decided she was going to be a mother and stole the nest. So my original broody was sitting on nothing in the other nest and not happy. I gave her the rest of the Buckeye's and a few langshans due the same day to her from the incubator. Now they are both zoning out. Chicks are due from both of them next Sunday/Monday. My rooster is very unhappy with this development and is hanging around the young girls pen a lot and wandering aimlessly around the yard looking very lonely. Poor guy...

Sick chicken is still ok and I am very sorry to hear about all these losses. Makes me never want to get a chicken that I didn't hatch out of an egg.

Good news is that I think I have my husband talked into a Digital Sportsman for next spring!!!

I sure had a nice Father days..Joe was at his daughters house all day. ..lol I hope everyone had a nice one too.
I did get a ton of stuff done.
It sure was nice and hot today. The chickens sure did not like it. The ducks loved it. I made some mud holes for the ducklings. They were in heaven. The second duck hatched out her group of 11 ducklings. I am sure glad the other two on duck eggs do not have that many eggs. Between the two of them they might have 10 eggs. I might be pulling the hen off her eggs, giving them to the duck and giving her some eggs out of the incubator.
Joe is working on my Mercedes and he is putting it up for sale. I am going to miss my car.

Good very wet afternoon everyone!
We have been sunshine, storm, sunshine, storm all afternoon but fortunately all the rough stuff passed just to our south, so close we could actually see it. whew.

Again, so sorry for all the losses. Unka, you are definitely on the right track with a closed flock. Think that is what in my plans from now on as well. Now, I just need my momma to go broody again.

Well its trying to rain here. I've heard thunder and seen lightening, but no rain. I might have to water in the morning.
All my chickens are doing well. Some are starting to get in their adult feathers. It looks like someone killed a chicken in the coop with all of the feathers in there. I'll have a chance this weekend to clean it all out. I've been waiting to close on the house before doing the complete cleanout because I'm sure that the insurance company is going to come out to before we start paying for home owners insurance and I'll have to gather all of the chickens up again.

Deli-I need you to come over one of these weekends to verify the sexes on these birds. I thought that the cross beaks were males and that's all, but since I haven't had these breeds of birds I like a confirmation. No hurry yet (not until they crow). Someone is making a bunch of noise in the morning, but not sure who. CC I could really use that chicken cam that you have!

When I first started, I cut out regular cigs cometely. But I was such a b, my fam could not handle me. It is in my head. I know. I can go 3 days now, and I dont realise im not smoking. It helps haaving the replacememt tho.
It does depend on the situation. When I have a few beers, I need to smoke. And when I do yard work. There is just certain times...
I hope it works for him :) I feel better that I cut back :)

Quitting was the hardest thing I ever did in my life - and I'm so glad I did! Nicotine is the most addictive substance. Just keep at it - you can do it!!!

FROST?!?! Seriously? What a bummer!!

Rberry, I am sorry to hear about your husbands diagnoses. Thankfully you only have 6 months to go.
I am curious; do you guys (irish) plan to teach art with kiddos, or adults?

Last year I had an art teacher for kids twice a week - they had a blast! This year she's going to school to be a dental assistant and then she needs to find a job so no kiddie classes here this year - not yet anyway. I teach when I have time - usually on Wednesdays when the hubs is around to help out in the store but I also do evenings. My mosaic classes are pretty popular. If anyone is interested I can do a class at your convenience for children or adults. Makes a fun birthday party activity.
