Wisconsin "Cheeseheads"

Heather our Boxer/Lab LOVES to chase the water from the hose! We used to have one of those big wave sprinklers, she would chase that too.... I think she is getting a little too old for that stuff now.

What a drive home from work! All the tourists on the roads plus a dumping of rain! I just enjoy hydroplaning with a semi right by you....

Today is my baby's birthday. Patrick turns 11. They are growing up so fast...... and I feel I am missing out on so much working the hours that I do........

We discovered the restrictions on the internet were off yesterday at work..... and they were off yet again today, so we did not get too much accomplished today. Not that we were all that busy with 5 Lab techs all at work at the same time.

Speaking of new dogs, my oldest DD found a Boxer/Lab on CL. One yr old male, neutered, all shots, to give away to a good home....... so I am thinking....... Trixie is 13 in a week, and Fonz is 8 on October..... might be a good time to get a younger dog.

Getting geared up for my Triathlon training. I have to start hard core this next week. I have a couple 6 week training plans to follow, now all I need to do is get out there and do it! Well, that and I need some biking shorts to protect my tushie.....

Terri, nice score on the T posts. I wish we could find a deal like that. We need at least 50 of them. DH is going to expand my chicken run one of these days.

I was one of the people who wanted ferns. I thought Deli was the other? Maybe not.

I had to chuckle about your laundry and the mulberry tree being full of berries.
lol.png
Yeah, that would bite.

I finally have cherries on the bushes in the chicken run! Now if only the chickens will let them get ripe............ yeah right.

DH was cutting the grass tonight & there were all these piles of grass clippings laying everywhere. I went out with the rake & a few buckets and threw them in the coop and run. That should keep them busy tomorrow. Then he must have gotten too close to a bunny nest by the greenhouse & about 8 babies went running everywhere. That ended his grass cutting. I went right up to 2 of them and one of them let me pick it up. Freaked me out. So I gave it a quick look to make sure it wasn't injured & put it next to one of its sibs that was close to the nest. I sure hope they all found their way back home.

Sandi, cute puppy. Other than that, CRS has kicked in & I hear squabbling chicks. Better go see what they are into now. Sweet dreams, all! Oh, and yes, Jim, you were the only one in the entire state that got rained on. The rest of us had a beautiful day.

There is a T-shirt that used to be sold up here that read; WHAT IS THE NAME OF ILLINOIS' LARGEST STATE PARK? WISCONSIN :lau BTW - didn't mean to start a firestorm or offend anyone, just stating a fact. Didn't say anyone wasn't welcome! Many of the cabins etc. Around the lakes up here are owned by Illinois folks and of course all the small businesses up here that that rely on tourism to survive welcome your dollars. The area where I live is NOT in any way metropolitan, it is primarily a seasonall recreational area and some logging. In summer the visitors usually outnumber the locals two to one. To give those that don't already know what I'm talking about, I live 35+ miles from the nearest stoplight and there are only 2 (3 if you count the one that only works sometimes in front of the Walmart) in the entire county and they are all in Antigo! Wow Jim, looks like I just joined your club  Guess I'm not as good at being "politically correct" as I thought I was. Back to lurking  have a great holiday everyone, that includes you folks from Illinois, sheesh.
We won't hold that against you, Mellie.I swear.

As for budgie, that is why I needed a drink last night. SIL took her to a vet & they wanted $89 just to see her so they brought her home and are trying a heating pad.............

VickiW-you don't know me, so I attempted to avoid anyone thinking I was being serious by using the disclaimer. Sorry I guess it didn't come off as I hoped it would. I was not offended by anything you said. CC-lol on not holding it against us.
I spent a lot of time in Sillinois especially $hitcago, and I would get out as much as I could if I lived there too

. How was that for not PC, lol. Good morning! Lisa
Lol Had a great day with Deli.We played with chickens and walked around the yard. Now, I've heard of FIBS but MUDD DUCKS? Where does this one come from? Oh and bigfam...I refuse to go to the dells for the exact reasons that you stated. I don't want to be around tourists (generally) because they are on a mission and don't care about the people that live there year round. I do find this true in most destination spots across the country, so when traveling, I try to avoid anything advertised.
X2 - like what I said to BBP. We get some really great people come here every summer either as tourists or folks that own cabins but unfortunately they are becoming more and more the minority. I will never understand why some of them even come up here and behave in a way they would never dare at home but because they are in our "home" it's somehow ok, even if it goes so far as to put the physical health of ourselves or our children at risk! (Don't get me started on idiots with guns)

Notice I cut the hair on her nose..Looks more poodleish eh?

Hey BigFam..... I LOVE YOUR POODLE

>>>>>>> TRADE YA !!!!!
lau.gif
Is Shadow a he or she? Toy, Miniature or Standard ??? Very nice !!

Our little girl is feeling much better today...... a Guinea took flight when she got to close to it and that was all she needed to start chasing them all !!! I know poodles are bird dogs but geez.... boy can she run !!!

Oh for G@ds sake.... it's 12:22am and I just heard a gun shot up the road.... Dang neighbors....who knows what they're shooting.... there goes another one !!! Last year they shot a bear off their porch !!!
somad.gif

Anyway, back to my short version of the day....
gig.gif

Our neighbor stopped by tonight and we found out that our new little girl (dog with no name yet) likes toddlers... she brought her 1 yr old with and she went right up to him and licked him. I asked her opinion on a name and she said "Hooker" because she was running the streets in CA..... About a half hour before that I said to ET that we should name her "Hooker" for the exact same reason.... Plus with all the talk about Hoe's on here lately and all.... seems appropriate hey ????
lau.gif

Sorry, didn't rotate the picture.... look at the long legs on this girl... the neighbor said she see's rat terrier in her face !!! Geez... that's all I need.... don't get me wrong they are cute dogs but I don't want a bundle of energy bouncing around chasing my chickens and ducks....
Poor little girl, she looked around at the guineas, chickens and then saw the pigs.....she didn't know who to watch. She is very watchful of the cats... not quite sure what to make of them. She really did like the little neighbor boy and even went right up to the neighbor woman ... Just makes me wonder more and more about her past.
We added a partition to my duck run for the new magpies, runners and rouens..... wouldn't you know it the weather did an about face... now it's chilly up here tonight and they didn't go into their dog houses.... told ET to go out there before he comes to bed.

Ok, I"m getting sleepy.... lucky you guys !!!!

Wonder why they are selling? I think she is a bit overpriced for todays market. Just my opinion. Pretty Girl. Are you seriously looking for a horse? If so I'll keep my eyes peeled for ya in this neck of the woods. Just let me know what you are looking for. I think you should get the dog.... you need a running partner. You should check out the lab/pits at the Onieda Cty Humane Society. The three sisters are adorable !!
You make me tired girl !!! Do you ever just sit down and veg out ???

And Hey did you ever try the apple pie shots?

Hi All!

Yep, We get FIBS/ Flatlanders in Lake Geneva. They can be a special kind of snob too! These are often the rich resort or summer home (more like mansion) types. Lake Geneva was the "the place to go" for Mobsters and Chicago Big Wigs, now it's not quite that elite, but still not a place most of us could vacation, although there are a few "low end" motels.

TO.... You mean the ladies would "cheat" with those saddles?! Sure wish I knew that then! I was so tempted to throw my leg over and try to fake it! And yes, I had a big stupid fluffy dress on! And a big hat and gloves.... so not me!
What a score on those post! Someone "down here" was selling some for $1 but you had to take the 100+ posts. I only wanted about 30, didn't have the bucks to get the whole lot.

Jim... congrats on your sale and the hatch!

FT... Glad the new dog likes kids! Now, teach her NOT to chase the critters!

vicki... I think people do FF depending on what works for the and their flock. Take notes and see what works. My birds (about 40+ young) get about a gallon or so for breakfast mixed with table scraps or produce DH brings home or spinach noodles. I split it in 4 pans so they all get a shot at it. It's gone within the hour. They free range and I do leave dry pellets out for them but they don't go through more than a coffee cans worth a day. I don't worry too much if I don't have a layer of water on top. Sometimes I do, sometimes not. Sometimes I add grain to the feed, sometimes oatmeal. Sometimes it's ACV, sometimes a dab of yogurt.

Well, an interesting thing happen when I was shopping. I got home and young son says "we got a new chicken." ???I thought he said "Did you get chicken" I said "I got wings." which confused him! LOL "No, we got a chicken, someone dropped it off" "OK, why?" He said someone pulled in and said that it was their neighbour's hen and she was getting picked on because she was so little. OK.... He didn't know much more than that. How these people thought this would be a better place is beyond me. She would be a newbie here and on the bottom of the pecking order. Oh well. Young son put her in the live trap until I could set up a cage for her. Some of the other chickens came around to check her out. I think Pretty Boy already claimed her. LOL No, didn't get to her, but was hanging out by her until roost time. She looks just like a full grown Australop, but real small. Do Australops come in a bantam? She is bare around the vent, I'll take a better look at her later. May be yeast?

Well, that was my big day.... night all!

Frenchie, yes there are some days that I just veg out...... when I have the time! No I am not seriously looking for a horse, I just enjoy torturing myself looking at what is out there.

As far as tourists go there are snotty people everywhere, even from WI. I have had to deal with my fair share. I live near the Chain of Lakes and we get our fair share.

Off to work, then 3 days off!

Whatever will I do? Cleaning the house might not be a bad idea........

Good morning..

This rain has my yard under water..the poor garden is sitting in an inch of water. I need to do some serious work on it for next year.

I was at Cs's home yesterday..what a beautiful home she has. Her set up is perfect for hiding chickens. She also picked most pullets. No wonder I have 14 males and one female...as far as I am sure, she has two cockerels.
