Wisconsin "Cheeseheads"

Today we worked on the roof on the small coop. It has not been roofed in 30 years. It was a joke. I could not believe the whole thing did not collapse in. I cleaned out the back and sanitized to get ready for the chicks that will be hatching and noticed all the mold on the walls and floor. I am so glad we did the roof. No more leaking water. I did not loose anything but a pint of blood from the skeeders.

Thanks Irish. Yes I did and I swear I lost at least 10lbs in sweat today alone. One can get very creative trying to hold 8 ft. Material and nail it up alone. Everyone has been sitting in the house w central air while I've been working my butt off literally. Got the nesting boxes done this afternoon. Tomorrow working on brooders so I can get these chicks out of the house.
Can't believe the chicks are a week old today and some have nearly as many feathers as my Cochin that are just over a month old.

I give you a lot of credit for that - especially on a day like today! The heat and humidity wipes me out so I haven't done much outside (my poor, neglected garden is a testament to that!) When I watered it the other day I also put water on myself. I was still so overheated that I took a cold shower when I got home. Sucks getting old without enough hormones to keep things cool! We should be getting some rain tonight and tomorrow am so it'll be muggy again in the afternoon. Maybe I'll get up early and hoe in the rain!?

Ok, you Gentlemen can open your eyes now !!! Oh and my two baby pea chicks are still with us. The neighbors stopped by today and spotted them. He was suppose to cut our hay but his haybine broke. Just my luck.

Found a pool and I'm having Fleet Farm hold it for me til tomorrow. Then I'm going to find out more about it because the info on line was pretty vague.
16' Ultra Frame Intex pool 48" deep. Comes with a Saltwater pump. $499... $150 more then the Walmart one the same size but the walmart one didn't come with the salt water pump or skimmer which this one does. http://www.fleetfarm.com/detail/intex-ultra-frame-pool-16-ft-x-48-in-/0000000029804

The skeeters are ravenous! I've been getting bites in the heat of the day. And they're so big and fat it would only take 4 or 5 to carry a small dog away!

Oh boy, I see bigfam is on !!! Getting ready for her advise here !!! lol

Hey Mel, how do you determine the dates on the blue Ball jars? Yeah, I know. Google it. But between the heat & lack of blood in my veins, I'm lazy today.

Not to mention tired & sunburnt. And I had sunblock on too. Gotta love that Irish skin. Not! So whaddya say?

Stacy is it? Really nice job on your coop. And kudos to you for doing it by yourself!

Irish, the heat does the exact same to me. These days have been brutal.

I have been trying to work in my gardens in the mornings but it is still a challenge. Don't overdo it. You're still recovering from that bug, aren't you?

Why is somebody putting blue balls in jars?

And Frenchie, you need to get cranberry tablets. I know , you need more pills to take like you need another fake leg, but cranberry is very potent in clearing up uti symptoms quick. You can drink cranberry juice, but usually there is so little cranberry juice present I just get the tabs. First sign, pop them in... YOUR MOUTH (for Pete's sakes!)

You are on fire with the jokes today/tonight.

enjoy the rest of your shift.

I've got lots to say about UTI herbal alternatives, cute chickies, and what I did all day that kept me outside, but after reading pages of yackity-yack I'm too tired to punch it all in on my phone. More tomorrow, good night all.
