Hi all....Just had the BEST surprise! I went outside after I woke up from my nap (about 5pm) to feed some bread to the birdies...well I saw that the calls and their babies had figured out how to get out of the pen (since Cuties' sister is getting 3 on Friday I want them to stay PUT!) I was herding them back in and as I turned around there was my missing Guinea hen with TWENTY (YES 20) babies in tow!!!!! Holy Buckets! I knew that there was no chance in he11 that she would have that many tomorrow so I pulled 14 and left the rest. Perpetual brooder around here this summer! The joined the turkey poult that showed up the other day and the Langshan's from Lmiller. Getting tight in there again! I guess maybe it was divine intervention that the power killed my hatch?
OK--now I have to see if I can remember what I read...Great fish catching TerriK! I cant believe that fish came in on #6 test! It is obviously WAY heavier than that! I cant wait to show my son that one...he wanted fish tacos with the crappies tonight--no way...they arent a strong enough fish for that IMHO!
Who had the pic of the Andalusian hen? I didnt see any wyandottes in the second pic...and that roo is a mix of more than RIR and GLW! He has feathers on his legs? I thought the coloring was mor like Red laced or blue laced...but where did those feet come from? Arent they just mysteries? I love my mixed roos...
BBP--dont get any more cats OK? Good job on the wheat-free thing! It is very hard if you dont have the Celiac reasoning behind it I would imagine. I just picture "normal" bread, cake etc as Rat Poison and can avoid it pretty easily!
I suppose that the fermented feed wont make you ill Frenchie. After all, it is OK for the chickens right? I surely wouldnt have tasted it though! Maybe a few years ago...I do smell lots of stuff though. One time I was in the grocery stores smelling the holes in the bottom of the strawberry cartons; a woman asked me what i was doing. I told her that I was really good at smelling a moldy berry so I always smelled them to see if there was one in there...she had me smell a few for her too!
But it is true...my fam is always asking me to smell stuff! I draw the line at milk though...thank God it doesnt last long in this house.
I cant remember too much of anything else...good luck at your study tonight Frenchie--why do they have it in a bank? THat is odd. DO they have a special room in the basement or something? I cant imagine having to cart all the stuff in every time they do a study...maybe you will be right in the lobby with everyone else? LOL!
I am heading out to take some pics of the Guinea babies...if I can find them that is. Is anyone familiar with their genetics? My only male is pure white and there is only 1 pure white baby. I think the female is normal/pied. Lots of pied, pure gray, pearled grey and maybe a few normals...are they all split to white? Do they work like chickens? I might have to put my thinking cap on and do some research!
Later! TerriO
(PS) BRENT--I miss your what's for dinner posts! THe people are playing softball and want dinner when they get back...fresh out of ideas!
