So bottom line..... since the FDA can't seem to settle on what is the right diet to eat, how in the heck are we suppose to !!!!! Trial and error, eat what makes you feel better... your body will let you know..... just wish it was that easy !!! I have a hard time resisting to temptation these days..... Just glad it's just my eating that is affected.... and not my sex drive !!!!! That would not be a good thing !!! LOL
FDA doesn't know jack about real nutrition. They endorse things like aspartame and soybean oil. A good rule of thumb is to not eat anything your great grandparents would not recognize as food. Nourishing Traditions by Sally Fallon Morrel is a great cooking/info book on traditional foods. Real Food by Nina Planck is excellent too.
Good point !!! I'm not a real book reading person.... I still haven't finished the Wheat Belly book that my doctor told me to read, actually forgot all about it !!! Geez !!! Should at least finish reading it since I paid $18 for it.

Heather, I've decided you've missed your calling ! Instead of being a brood mare you should have been a stand up comic !!!!

It's not to late !!!! Just remember me when you are rich and famous !!!
OR you and Jim could have a morning talk show, like Regis and Kelly, only JIM & HEATHER !!!! What a hoot that would be hey ???

Jim could even wear his sandals with his suit cause he be sitting behind the desk, just make sure it goes all the way to the floor.... But it would be kind of cute with his tootsies showing under the desk !!!

Or if you guys are to camera shy, how bout a radio show......maybe not in the morning cause I wouldn't be up to listen plus I'm sure it would be x rated so better be late night....... Yeah that's it.... Late Night With Jim & Heather !!!!

Judi, the Homebase bar is for sale. It has a house attached to it too.
TO - I don't drink soda, I actually only drink tea and water. But I do like my occasional vodka, tequila and rum.
Does it have a kitchen too ?

Last night we were fixing fence and it got to late to go for FF plus ET was filthy. Anyway I called and ordered a pizza to go. Couldn't believe large deluxe pizza was $18..... He said, wow, we should open a pizza place... that actually makes a good pizza.'

The pizza is good at this place BUT the crust is never done. The first time we ordered one and brought it home it was awful !! The topping was real good but the crust didn't even have a hint of color to it. Plus I found a hair on it. So for that kind of money I called them and they gave us a free pizza. She said you actually have to ask for a well done crust !!!! Really !! So a few days later we ordered another one (so they wouldn't forget) Asked for it well done and when we went to get it we had to send it back twice.
Last night I asked for it well done and same thing. They said 20 minutes and it was more like 45 mins. We took it down to the lake and ate it and you couldn't hold the pizza cause it was still soggy on the bottom. Thin crust wasn't thin and wasn't done. It's a shame when you can order a bar pizza and it's better then the resturants. Like I said their toppings were good but they can't make a crust..... Same with their fish fry. ET won't eat it cause he said their oil isn't hot enough. Nothing worse then greasy soggy fish fry.
Sure with they'd open a new restaurant in town. There is a vacant Resturant in Rhinelander, they want $350 for the building !!!! Who can afford that !!!
There is also a vacant bar, restaurant, house across from the famous brush run in Crandon..... Can't believe no one is jumping on that.... must want to much.
Oh and speaking about money....heard that the Mole Lake Indians that were against the mines a few years back are now for it and they want to do the mining !!!!! So here I sit on property that could be affected... Not sure exactly how or when, maybe not in my lifetime but .......Probably shouldn't worry cause if they run that like they do their casino they won't make it !!! Or maybe they'd buy me out ?????? That would be nice !!!!

Ok, just got up from a nap, so much for an early start today... and the coffee did nothing !!!

Hi guys- quick pop in for a question.
I went by my sister this morning to make sauerkraut and she sent me home with a plastic grocery bag filled with sour cherries from Door County. Besides making a pie or jelly, does anyone have any recipes for preserving them some way? I saw one for a chutney that I thought looked good, but wanted to see if anyone on here preserved cherries?

Anyway I have been out in the truck with Adam, home for a day or so to restock the truck, and fix my sons car, then we are gone again.
Just wanted to let everyone know I miss them, and when and if we have service to out lap top in the truck we will post.......its been kinda crazy around here, the last month at least, with Adams kids having to go back to Iowa, and then me going along in the truck, having to issue orders over the phone to my boys and GF Ann about critters, its been fun but heck-tick. so at least ya all know I ain't dead....... all the critters are fine, have 3 new babies hatched by my broody butt Stripes, very cute, will try to post pictures if I ever get her to stand still for some. Turkey's are huge, and everyone else is fat and sassy. So for now later peeps

I totally agree Amy. That is pretty much the diet I raised my children on. I was on the board of a natural foods co-op long before they were cool and we made our own goat cheese, butter, canned everything and our granola was to die for . both daughter and son are in their early 40's (first marriage very young) and neither has any health issues so far at all and trust me, no genetics in play there. Horrible stuff on both sides, that was a large factor in my determining to give them the best possible start unlike my own mother. If she would have ever lost her can opener us kids would have starved to death and once TV din ers came out we were doomed! Thank the Lord for a grandmother who at least tried to teach me how to cook (and eat). I had one health issue after another as a young adult which led to my over exposure to radiation (and a ton of later found to be very bad drugs) which ultimately led to my developing leukemia in my 50's. I attribute my 20 years of good health while I in my 30's to early 50's to the way I chose to raise my children. Unfortunately for me however, the damage had already been done, BUT not for my children and now my very healthy and beautiful grand daughters! :celebrate. The only cookbook I still only really use is more than 60 years old and I still discover wonderful little secrets in it. :old

Exactly!!!!

Remember a few years back they were telling us how bad egg are for us too!
