Wisconsin "Cheeseheads"

They had both been wormed with ivermectin by the owner. I'll know for sure by tomorrow, she eats well and is plenty active and is not skinny in the slightest.... I suspect worms, or actually hope it is worms and not something more serious. Just a worried mamma!

There is a Pinterest/Facebook pic floating around about freezing colored water balloons and how you end up with these giant colored spheres. It has been an interesting experiment for the kids. They were able to see first hand the insulating properties of snow with the first attempt. It took over three days for the water to freeze, and even then I had a few that did not freeze solid and ended up breaking.

Ugh, -13! Time to make coffee.......

JJ...so sorry for your loss. That is a tough break over the holidays. Hope dd feels happier soon.

Really cold...feeling bad for the chickies out there.
Thinking of taking a pile of kids to rainbow play systems to run around for a while and play on their structures.mfound a good groupon for that earlier this year!

rather BRISK in the north country!

I agree with Jim's comment on good dogs, JJ sorry for the loss and the timing of that ordeal

had to get out early to make sure feeders were full and the water was ok,,,they are and it was

did any of you notice that if our buddy Cutler would have tossed that pass 10 yards farther(where he was aiming) all of the cheesehead nation would be in a pissy mood today? As is, I for one am a pretty happy fellow,,,,bring on those '9ers I say

JJ, So sorry about the dog and daughter's (family's) sadness. Hope it isn't too long before it is memories of good times that you have instead of sadness of the loss.

Yeah that was one heck of a football game, we got a lucky call on that roughing the passer too. Glad San Fran has to travel to Green Bay, hope the defense keeps improving sure miss the Claymaker.

One of the pullets has started laying, got our first green egg, though it was an Olive Egger we got with our Delaware from Emancipation Acres... Still waiting on eggs yet from your pullets TO....but do so love those first new eggs and with 5 new ones still not laying and the days getting longer looking forward to those visits to the coop. I heard the month of January we will actually have 55 minutes more of daylight than we have now...

Stay warm all

Bittersweet holidays here.

all was well for Christmas day Good food, no company over. Christmas night our yellow Lab died of what we think was a flipped/ blocked bowel. I guess it is less rare in with Labs.

So, the chickens are safe, but my DD3 is really taking it badly. She has crawlled over and layed on that dog for her entire life. No fun digging a grave this time of year either.

Holly tomato sauce its is bitter out..
I have heated waters..but those suckers had ice on them this morning...brrrrr -19 and counting.

good chilly morning,

I have not gone out yet.. I gotta have my cuppa first..

I know the chickens waterer is not frozen because it was empty when I locked up last night.. I couldn't bring the waterer in because I had my hands full of eggs.. I will give them warm water, that should make up for it..
got 9 eggs again , yesterday..

I don't remember what year it was, but I remember one winter when it was below zero for two consecutive weeks.. just hang in there,, we don't have to like this cold, but just think how warm 15* above is going to feel when this is over ....

this should make my oldest DD happy.. she keeps telling me how the polar caps are melting.. there are two ships in Antarctica stuck in the "thawing" ice cap .. the ice was 6 feet thick and getting thicker by the day; a week ago..
I should give her a call and razz her a bit..

Frigid Morning To All....tough news about your family pet JJ. Hard to lose part of the family for sure.

Time to check again on the hens. One was in the nest earlier this morning. Better collect eggs before they freeze on me. I added another bale of straw to the coops. I can't wait for the weather to give us a break from this brutal stuff.

Yep, bring on the 9ers...If the D can hold their own, we have a chance with Aaron back. It was fun to see the Cowboys lose and miss the playoffs again too. Jerry was might P'd off I'd say.
