just an FYI,,,,10% of my ducks froze to the ground today, I have 10, easy math

after playing in the water apparently it decided to take a break on the ice covered area near the rubber pan,,,bad idea

I think she might have been stuck there for a couple hours,,,Jake went outside and was barking in that direction (something he doesn't do unless there is a critter or something wrong) DD thought she saw a duck and told me,,,I checked and yup,,,almost a ducksicle. I gently worked her feathers loose loose, she grabbed some corn,,,and waddled back to the shelter quacking all the way

hooray Jake!

I think my keyboard is full of drool looking at the baking pics, where's bigfam? she is missing some excellent comment material involving all these nice buns

We brought the lb into the basement.

Bigz, is it a featherfooted thing? One of the roos now has swollen cold feet. I do not want these guys to have issues! They are our best birds. They will stay in until the nice weather arrive. They had a heat lamp. And lots of pine shavi gs. Not sure why they are having such a hard time!

Chicken baked in bacon tonight. And cheesy potatoes. Almost ready! I'll take a pic for you all. If it won't go through I will post it in the am

Good job keeping a close eye cuties. Nope not a feathered foot thing for sure. If they aren't roosting (mine aren't) then you need a good deep bed of straw or frost free warm floor for sure. Good to hear that you can keep them warm til the weather breaks. I have over 12" of straw on the bottom of the coop to secure their sleeping on the floor, and the coop is super insulated. The majestic ones love to cuddle on the floor. Both of my pullets are laying now, although not every day. Good Luck, they are worth the effort you are providing.

Bring on the heat wave Mother Nature , not a moment to soon for me!

I'd love to attend CC...just to cold for me to venture out that far!

Great job on the reduced smoking. It is not easy, but I did the gradual cut down til I got to one a day. It was so much easier for me then. I tried the cold turkey but it didn't work for me. Here comes the turkey jokes........ Never throw around that phrase on a poultry thread.
