Wisconsin "Cheeseheads"

Ugh! Repairing the bathroom was NOT part of this weeks game plan!!!!! Our replacement bathroom sink finally came in, but HD wants the entire sink and counter assembly in exchange for the new one. No big deal BUT hubby decided we should do some touch up on the finish of the cabinet, do some drywall patching, etc etc..... so now I hope I can get the bathroom back together by Saturday.

Thank goodness my sister and her kids came over to give me a hand with cleaning! And now I need to bake a few cakes........

these are the two pens side by side..

I carry each one around with the tractor loader..

they are 10 feet wide, , 4 feet deep, 3 feet high, the legs are 2 feet tall..

there are sliding doors on each end,, and on the inside are 3 roosts running from front to back. for a total of 12 feet of roost..

I use these pens as brooders later on in the summer so the chicks can enjoy the fresh air and sun..

I built a couple of brooder hoods I stick inside each one to help the chicks keep warm..

those are royal palm turkeys in the left one and half grown guineas in the right side one..

you can click on the pictures with your mouse to enlarge them,,

Nah BBP, Jim already said he does that. You are in the clear.

Baby seems to be alright again (deep sigh release). Still not sure what caused the death of the other two and probably won't know.

Jim, the chickens and pheasies NEVER cross a single path or share anything. Ever. And his brother lives on the other end of the property. So no possibility of having it transfer from the brooder cages. They weren't even reared in the same house. Put them in our old bathtub and they seem fine. No clue...

Updated our duck condos, painted them green (he has a green and yellow theme going, his works colors) and built a few separate runs for them also.

The one week olds are so cute and one always seems to be getting into trouble when you handle it. Calling it Trouble for now...

3 more Pekin babies hatching now, and hopefully a few more in a couple of weeks. These first ones go in exchange for some goslings to a woman I met at the Ladysmith swap. Not sure if she wants the second ones too. We shall see... Also supposed to have some more Rouen babies by end of this month. Man, I can swim safely in ducklings right now! Lol

Gonna post a coupla pics when I get on the puter later. Til then... Stay skeeter clear!

Evening all...Thanks for the info about the wafers Jim, Long day at Camp...maybe tomorrow I can look into them....tired from working today. I cut down the dead tree inside the circle today along with working on the fence today. I think the gate just keeps the honest folks out...LOL

I read your posts Angiebubs as well as everyone else's..I like to allow others to answer posts, so I can read their thoughts too.

Good luck with the half sick one wildsam...You could try liquid sulmet that you add to their water fleet sells small bottles....I think it's 2 tablespoons per gallon of water....can't collect eggs if they are laying for a couple weeks after using a couple days.

Tough about the nice hen Cind ....suzie doesn't like roosters...if it was up to her...we would only have hens.

lazyboy is calling....bigz

I also agree with Mel, Ang. If I have no answer, I will not respond. And sometimes I get busy & do not get to catch up on posts for a few days. And after all that reading, I sometimes forget, like Cindy said.

Sorry if it seems you are being ignored.

I promise you that I do read all of your posts, and everyone elses too. I do remember your coop having moisture under the bedding & you cursing a cracked, leaky concrete-floored barn.

Nice visit from CC, if it were not so wet and such we may have gotten her in the house but we chatted in her car. BTW.... did you bring your chair? I didn't see it.

The only question on the repellent formulas is what about cats? They are sensitive to so much, and they lick.

Well, the poor little broody that got kicked around by the turkey and then roosters didn't make it.

She was a sweet little girl too. Soooooo..... I wound up giving Pepper all the eggs I had split between her and Jasmine. There was only a 2 day difference from when they were set, and I don't know how long the 2nd batch was cool, so they may not hatch anyway. She's a full size Cochin so she can cover a good size pile. Jasmine got the Marans eggs because she's a well proven broody and mom.

Guess that's it.... Night All!
Awwwww. So sorry about your broody, Cindy.

That just stinks. And always the nice ones too.

Dam roosters..............

Yes, my chair was up in that carrier on the roof. I didn't realize you've never seen it or I would have showed you. Duh! It is pretty cool.
I have no idea on repellents for cats. Mine all stay inside so I've never researched it. Do yours wear collars? Maybe a take on Frenchies dryer sheets? Put a sheet or scrap of fabric (doused in repellent) & tie onto the collar? Try washing the fabric in Woolite first for an added preventative.

I don't know if a cat would go for that sort of thing, but I have seen some cats with those fabric-wrapped hair thingies around their necks. So maybe?
I vote for keeping the kitties safely inside, but that is just me.

Ok, now that I can't remember anything else I read................. BBl, maybe.

Oh yeah.

Sam, sorry about your pheasies. I hope you don't lose any more. Do you have vit./electros in the water? That can do wonders. Fingers crossed for you.

BBP, my 2 cherry trees are half dead from the winter too, as are my 2 dogwoods we planted last year. Actually, they are completely dead.

My elderberries took quite a hit too. Lost over half of them. The tips of the branches on my peach & nectarine tree are all dead too. The leaves are coming out near the trunk. This winter was a beyotch for sure.

Thanks Yvette-good to know. (Any interesting!) Glad to know someone sees my posts as it gets boring talking to myself in here-hence why I haven't been on this forum as much lately.
I read everyone's posts, but as stated earlier, don't have anything helpful or knowledgeable.

French-as long as we aren't reading about donkey balls, I'm okay with your long posts! LOL

For those posting about mixing birds, I don't know anything about it.

bl4- you'll glad that your DH wanted the whole room painted once your done. Congrats on finally getting that sink!!!! And on your garden patch

jim- ANA, the puppy, seems like she is having a streak of naughtiness and whining. Get a water gun. Theo runs when I spray the plants.

bigfam-you back from Scotland?

All you GF'ers...what are good breads, crackers, etc to get?

TO-I'm trying to cut out wheat. It will be a slow transition, but I'll try it.

Did I miss something about Vicki? Del, you ok?

A prick at work is being passive aggressive and trying to tell me how to read data sheets. I told him that the chemicals he wanted were too toxic to purchase and he is arguing the point with me! Other than that the work on the building continues, gas lines and hot water were today's projects.

Garden is coming along. I planted the broccoli from the bash and also some tomatoes and peppers. Also continued my work on the hill in front. I added yarrow and salvia.

Nothing else here. Day off tomorrow, so I'm sleeping in, planting the rest of my yarrow and tomatoes and weeding.

Nite all.
