Wisconsin "Cheeseheads"

Good Morning all! ODrH it's 26 out there--that's not frigid! I would say that is a heat wave.

My DH was saying that it is supposed to get to 40 this coming week?

That would be great if it did...I might be able to get my barn pushed out...the bucket is UNDER the snow in the pasture! THat was bad planning on DHs part!
We had a great day yesterday--stayed in our jammies all day (well, I DID get dressed to go on a ride) and did absolutely nothing productive...just how it's supposed to be on Christmas! Ya know, I think in the "olden" days Sunday was like that...just hanging out with family, church, no work and a nice Sunday dinner with the whole family together around a nice table, and off to bed early to get ready for the WORK week. When did we all decide to change that anyhow? You got a day a week for it to be "just like Christmas" and everyone felt good and refreshed by the end of the day. (well, maybe the Mom didnt, she had to do the cooking after all...) I think I might have really liked times like that! Enough of my time travel....
Today I am taking all the dogs to the dogpark. They really need to run! Although they are all laying down and sleeping off their breakfast; I am sure they will be up and terrorizing the cats very soon! I am wondering if there will be many people there?
My DS22 just got up...he is taking a shower and then I will re-bandage his cut from yesterday. Did I tell you all that we nearly had to go to the emergency room? He was opening his new knife and pulled it from the packaging and slid it across his first finger! Just as I was getting up to get the scissors! He said, "that's going to need stitches!" Got it all fixed up though and it was looking good when we redid it last night. I didnt want him to have stitches in his finger because of how mine feels from them when I dropped the wagon hitch on it! It is kinda hard inside and I cant feel much...but it is just my pinky not the index finger!
OK--time to say--have a Fantastic Day Everyone and GO Pack! Terri O

ODrH--You should post your questions in the b reed section. THe people there know a bunch about genetics...there is also a Marans board where I KNOW you would get the right answer! I am just getting into genetics and dont know a whole bunch...starting with Favorelles--sometimes so confusing! Good luck--pretty boy! The dark one kind of reminds me of mine.
I can tell I typed a whole bunch (and that folks slept in today) cause there were 5 replies when I got done! I guess maybe I shouldnt type so much? Later! Terri O

Good Sunday Afternoon All...good to hear that everyone had a fun and safe Holiday, except for your DH Terri. Hope it heals fast without alot of hastle for him.
We had a great time with all the relation, and like everyone else ate more than I should of for like 3 days in a row.
Yep, I have a thermometer in the coops to keep an eye on the difference between outside temps and inside the coop. Sometimes it's only 10 degrees warmer inside, but draft free feels like more than that without the wind chill factor.
Big game for the Pack. Hope they can cause an upset. The Giants are favored to win. Go Pack!

Have Fun... ~ bigzio

hurley, send a PM to henk69, he's the best person to ask about genetics stuff, but he lives in Netherlands so you need to give him about 24 hours to answer, or you can use his calcuator http://kippenjungle.nl/Overzicht.htm you might have to run the translator

I have to lay low for a little bit, i won both the Mr & Miss Chicken, and a few people think I paid off the judge

Chillin' with a nice glass of wine while the laundry for tomorrow does it's thing in the washer and dryer. Kids took about 10 runs down the hill before they called it quits (mom did 4...)......

Looking forward to seeing the family! As an incentive to keep driving South, I bought season passes for the whole family to Great America!

While at the in-laws, I was trying to talk them into letting me hatch out some eggs for them..........

I would LOVE to get them to have different varieties of birds! Something other than production reds!

I am relatively new to owning chickens (3 months now), and have been very lucky with their health. I was just realizing today that I wouldn't know where to go if something bad happened to them. I called our vet that we take the cats to, and they said that they don't treat chickens. Does anyone know a good vet in the Green Bay area just in case anything were to happen?

Thanks!
