Wisconsin "Cheeseheads"

Jim-you say Dora may be having another litter? 63 days and counting? Tell Gus to leave her be. Goodness!

Workouts and GD diet are all working out well. I have started having cravings for certain foods (cookies, banana bread, etc)

Terri-what is your flour recipe?

Cleaned the waterers this evening. With all of the moisture, the containers are getting more algae growth.

Baby roo is still missing and now my runt is too. Where the F@%$ are they going? There is no hole under the coop or gap into the coop. Are they just evaporating?

Cs, I'd fill that hole in and put some wire fencing down on the floor, but that is just me.

How is your lav hen doing? Didn't Theo get her twice? Good luck on the GF diet. I kinda wish I could do it but I'm too much of a WI girl. Gotta have my brewskis. Or is that the Irish? Hmmmmm........

Bigz, I feel Suzie's pain. I was back at it tackling the gardens again. Then I was going to head inside & get the chickies treats for the day when I got a little too close to one of the septic holes. Yep, got er stuck good. Had to call DH. It wouldn't have been too bad because it was right as he would have been getting home from work anyway, but it was golf league day.

Awwww, poor Dora. I hope it doesn't get real hot out now. That could suck.

Glad to see you are still upright & breathing, Terri. Check in more often, girl. We worry, ya know!

I was hoping to have them come out, but I think we are past that possibility. My lav hen is fine. She just squats down when he comes to "play", the dumb thing. I'd really like them to attack! I know Theo was just trying to play with her, but he has learned that "mouthing" the dog, hens, humans, etc is not ok. Now he is digging holes??????

Jim-when do they get past this destructive stage?

So after doing some research on the digging issue, it seems that boredom is one possibility. So here is my question for all of you: if he is attacking the chickens requiring supervision AND running out of the yard when not on a leash or fenced....how the h*11 can I provide him more exercise and room to move around? Because I work, I can't constantly be sitting outside watching everything that he does.

This too shall pass CS. He is going to drive you nuts until he grows up. Since these LGD's are so different with training techniques, perhaps Jim should field this one.

I found this video that is an excellent method to move us past where Theo is (coming when called-with few distractions) to a bit closer to where we need to be. I went out for a 10 min session. I started with a low distraction area (the backyard) in order for him to learn the concept. Then I moved to the front yard. He did really well! He didn't leave the yard or go into the ravine (this time). I'm gonna watch more of this guys videos and see where we get!

I could still use suggestions for relieving boredom while I'm not with him. Maybe a kong with food in it?

Yeah well I had to "break-in" to the bathroom. The kids locked my keys in there. A few hours later and I had to break the boys out of their bedroom. Door knob is busted and they "forgot" I took it off the door so it will not stay closed.

Deli-I still have that fencing and the pet carrier to get to you. Maybe this weekend?

I will be home all weekend but for a family picnic at the park right in Franksville.

I purchased a huge leg bone for cookie. It has helped so much with boredom. She loves her bone and lives with it constantly. I have been walking her more and letting her out to run longer. She is no longer locked up in the kennel. She still flushes the birds and does chase. She has not touched a chicken in a month.(That I know of) It has been three months since her last injury to a chicken and the added activity seems to be helping.
