Wisconsin "Cheeseheads"

Happy belated Birthday Jim and Cindy, sorry I missed that yesterday. The dormer and copula are kicking my butt for sure. I finally got the dormer framed and if the weather is ok today will hopefully get the copula framed. I'm planning on just framing and the walls will be plexiglass to let light in and see out of. I used to build decks and such about 15+ years ago and knew how to figure out any angle but since not doing it for so many years it's taking me a bit longer and many waste of boards. I find it amazing how when you don't use part of your knowledge how quickly you lose it.

Hi All!
Thanks for the Birthday wishes. Pretty much a same ol', same ol' day.

Yep, There were all kinds of skills I forgot over the years because I no longer needed them on a regular basis. At least now days you can look up what you need with a few key strokes.

Night All!

good afternoon,

well, the fence was sold this morning,, it is down, loaded and gone..

I sold the guy all the extra rolls of fenceing I have behind the garage,, I will be taking the tractor and relocating them out along side of the driveway so the guy can pick them up whenever he wants to..

I got the new on/off switch in the tractor,, it works very well.. hope it lasts longer than the last one did ..

I mowed some lawn today,, mowed along the line where the fence used to be.. gradually I will reclaim the area between the nut trees.. there are a lot of fallen branches to clean up, first..
this is a good spot for a before and after picture..

I did not get a birthday cake.. Annie gave me a choice, and I chose a fresh apple pie ..

Happy Birthday Jim, Cind, and Kildare!

My roo is now almost fully crowing! He had yet to hit the last note... I think he has some growing to do yet before he will get it.

My first attempt at jelly was last weekend... apple grape with the mother in law's Concord grapes and uncle in law's apples. Only got about a pint but we will see how it is! It seems a bit thin but still usable. It was a pectin-free recipe I found online. Also made Italian bread that turned out fantastic! Husband cleaned out thr coop. It is so funny to watch them go in after that- they are so suspicious...

This weekend's agenda includes laundry (catching up; last week was too hot for my pregnant backside to want to do anything), cleaning the house and hubby mowing the lawn.

Stac, that project looks wonderful. Truly a great job; I'm enjoying seeing the progress!

Hope everyone is well!

Envious of all of you with land and or a place to hunt... not much available like 20 years ago, when Gary and I would pile in the car and go ask people for the chance to hunt on their farms... Have not had fresh venison in 10 or more years, sure miss it... My Dad had a shack up at Black River Falls but it is deep woods and difficult to hunt not like the ravines Gary loves around the Baraboo Hills... Fall is in the air... love it, but not looking forward to the next phase...

Just joined up here, west of Madison an hour or so, but work in Madison and get around. If deer season is as productive as usual, I'd be happy to drop off a package of venison for y'all. I'll probably lose track of this thread, so please nudge or PM me to remind. I'd feel terrible if I forgot. :)

Most days it won't let me upload photos so here are the ones missed. I'm putting plexi in the sides of the copula for light and I still have to find me a weather vane with a rooster on it. Also may have to buy me a new post pounder as I still can't find mine and I loved mine, it was a heavy one not a cheapo. Thanks for the nice comments on my project, most of the family thinks I'm completely crazy for doing this but oh well. Excuse the mess around, I don't work too cleanly.

My dear SIL spent the day with me yesterday helping me catch up with all the veggies. We froze corn and carrots, made salsa and ground up a lot of zucchini for the chickens to enjoy this winter. Picked more produce, sold a bunch, cleaned up the red squirrel's mess on the sidewalk, did some trimming with the weed whacker, cleaned cages and found time to sit and enjoy some ice cream while the chickaroos gathered around for some treats. AND it was a beautiful day to boot. We are truly blessed!

Have a wonderful week!!

Oh, yes, I almost forgot: GO, PACK, GO!!
