Wisconsin "Cheeseheads"

An acne medicine causing facial hair is nothing.  My all-time favorite Rx commercial was for the stop-smoking pill with a side effect of death.  Yep, death will keep you from smoking, all right.

My favorite one is the cholesterol medication that can cause heart attack stroke and death. Lol

Well, we have a miracle chick.  I have some 6-7 week old silkie chicks and my frizzles are about 4-5 weeks.  I introduced them to the ones that were in the chicken tractor.  For 4 days they hung out together but slept separately.  Older ones in the proper coop and babies in a small dog kennel in the run area.  Night before last I put all the babies with the olders at night.  Before I left for the night the smallest ones were snuggling under one of the hens wings.  I locked them all together so that the littles didn't get separated and cold.  Went out yesterday morning to let them out and there was one laying against the door block bleeding from the head.  I brought it in and cleaned it up a bit wrapped it in a towel with a heat source and gave it water on and off.  Low and behold it has survived is up and walking and chirping.  I think it will survive.  I am so happy because this chick is a sweetie.  She loves to ride around on my shoulder.  Any advice on when I should try to reintroduce her to her flock and what I should do differently?  Her poor head was really swelled up but looks so much better this morning.

Oh no! What chick got hurt? So the others pecked it? Let me know if you need to rehome it we have littles it's age if you're worried. Hope it is okay.

Well, I finally just got home from the hospital.  I had to leave Annie there for a couple hours more.

DD Barby just called.  she is picking Annie up and bringing her home soon.

All went well..  her heart is steady and her vitals are all normal.

I helped her eat her breakfast/lunch/supper before I left.
she had nothing to eat since supper last night.

I caught a 15 minute nap in the waiting room.  I think we will both sleep well tonight.

we ended up with 7/10 quail hatch.  one escaped in the basement, so Jordan took only 6 home with him.

Hey Jim glad Annie is doing well we'll keep her in our prayers sorry about the little quail that got out and got lost.

My buff silkie. Not one that I got from you. Friendliest little thing. I will let you know when I decide. Thanks.

You're very welcome and whatever you decide good luck I hope things work out. Is this one of the ones that was sexed or not? Not trying to sway you at all but you said buff silkie and I thought of Ginger. We had one of her chicks hatch today one of her last babies ever will send you pics when it's dry I haven't figured out the color yet but I'm almost certain its pure silkie.

Still miss her like crazy her hmchicks are doing good though(idk if you remember that she was broody and had 6-8 week old chicks when she was killed) well Kramer our other silkie roo has basically adopted them and is watching over them.

Jim, glad to hear Annie is doing well after her procedure.

Not much to say, busy couple days with college orientation yesterday, Badger State this morning and graduation party tonight.

good morning,

we both woke up at 3:3o this morning,
got up and had a cuppa.
I went into the bedroom to get dressed. turned on the AC , laid down and went to sleep.. getting up at 7 AM made more sense..

I am going to try to run the tiller between the potato rows. It doesn't matter how hot it is, it should take only a few minutes.

Annie is feeling really good. I have to keep yelling at her to take it easy.. she takes Dr orders and sort of bends them to suit herself .
for instance: she is supposed to start climbing stairs with her left foot first. that doesn't mean making un necessary trips up and down the basement stairs.

Great to hear that Annie is doing well, Jim!!

Yesterday was too oppressive to work in the garden and I'm going to Chicago for a couple of days to pick up my mom at the airport and then drive her around to visit a couple of friends so it won't see me until Monday. I hope it cools down by then otherwise I have to work when the mosquitoes are out in force. Maybe the hubs will do it while I'm gone?

Have a good weekend!

So, we got some wind and rain the other night.....all the young chicks ran into the coop.....DS went out later and all the old girls were on one side with BIG RED, and all the young chicks were on the other side. Is that what is called a generation gap?

So, my rhubarb has bolted and has a couple of flower stalks. Is it still OK to use for cooking? or is it going to be bitter?

@firstchic - generation gap - lol! I'm guessing, about 8 feet...
