Wisconsin "Cheeseheads"

good evening,

f granite delivered today. I spent about an hour and a half with Ollie and got several buckets spread up and down the driveway.. still have some more leveling to do, but got all the holes filled in. we will drive on it and pinpoint the dips and humps that need adjustment.

got about two dozen grape scions planted in a bucket.
I need to get some more potting soil.

as long as the weather holds, I will try to get the ground ready for where I want to plant the new row of grapes..

I also have to pick out 7 small chickens to butcher. some of them look too big for what I need already..

sorry I did not reply, I already have some rooting powder, but I will go onto Amazon and look up ( Root Not ).
It sounds like a negative substance. funny name for a rooting substance..

I still have probably 3 dozen scions to do. I picked out the very best looking ones for the first planting.
some of the ones left are iffie looking, but I have nothing to lose by planting them,,

I have a little more granite I want to spread today.
the 18 cu yards Annie ordered are more than enough to blanket the driveway.. I am going to dump a few buckets along the garage foundation.
there used to be peonies there, but the chickens have long since eliminated them.

I am going to buy a few bags of potting soil for transplanting the old grape roots.
I have a compost pile, but I don't think it is quite ready for use.

I learned from Unka Dan that Sagita chickens are hybrids.
I thought they were a breed. now I won't feel so badly about butchering a few for Thanksgiving.
Another thing that I had better not put off for much longer, they are growing like crazy .

the buff Orpington I raised is the friendliest chicken I have.
she flies up onto the edge of the feed bin when I am scooping feed for the birds . now she thinks I have to hand feed her every time..

It was a beautiful day in Wisconsin,

I played with my new pile of granite again.
today I scraped some dirt away from the garage foundation and replaced it with a generous amount of granite. I built it up to the bottom of the top block, and then sloped it away from the garage for about 6 feet.. now it should remain weed free for a couple of years.

tomorrow I think I will make a granite "sidewalk" from the house to the chicken coop. it gets kind of muddy in the spring thaw..

then I have to cover a muddy spot there Irene parks her car. about 6 inches of granite over the mud should take care of that.

it is amazing how much fun a guy can have
with 18 cu yards of granite and a tractor.

I bought 3 bags of potting soil today.

Got a couple of steps closer to being ready for winter today. Finished getting the garden fence down and put away. The chicken tractor is gradually getting rid of all the leftover garden plants and weeds while fertilizing away. Mowed the leaves into the lawn. Fixed a few things inside the house. Tired so hitting the sheets. Night all!

I had a hen hatch 8 chicks this week. The fox that was snatching my meaties is still hanging around. He was in the driveway on Thursday night when we came home. What a beautiful animal He just sits in the horse pasture, tormenting the dog who can't get past the wireless fence. I've thought about putting my unwanted roosters in the pasture at night. Lol. At least they wouldn't go to waste. Also, there's a stray cat hanging around. And now my 14 year old cat has a chunk of skin missing from her rear end about the size of a quarter. I have to lock up the two outdoor boys tonight and set a live trap. I hate to say it, but we may shoot him. It sounds like he has respiratory issues. I don't want him/her hurting my cats or getting them sick.

good morning,
Irene went to work , so her parking spot is open,, now I can dump some granite there and level it up.

Have to add some potting soil to the bucket of grape scions.

I don't know what elsde I will do today

ETA:
I fixed up the parking space.
made a walkway from the house to the chicken coop. that should prevent muddy feet.
I graded the whole driveway again, eliminated a couple of dips. I still have to add some granite to a couple of dips.
then I drove in a steel post support and mounted the mailbox to it.
topped off the dirt in the bucketful of grape scions.
watched the Badgers slaughter NW .. and took a short nap before supper.
at 6 I am going to play cards at the restaurant .

Now, where are everybody ?
