Wisconsin "Cheeseheads"

sorry, can't advise. I'm old school.. phones are for talking.
the all caps helps...

I got one of the grape roots yanked out. it was more like a strawberry runner. . I cut it into several roots and will end up with 5 or 6 plants.
I cut a nice bunch of scions off of this root system,
keeping them separate from the first ones I cut a week ago.

it is plenty cool out there, but if you keep moving it is tolerable..

good evening,

well, I did get a grape root dug/yanked out of the ground.
I cut it into 6 pieces and planted each one .
It turned out to be more work than I figured, .
where I planted them was never used as a garden,
therefore the soil is not the best and it is rocky as he//.

I added plenty of potting soil to each hole, so I hope that helps.. I will add some nutrients at a later date. when I find out what to add.. next summer I will build the support trellis .

I cut a nice bundle of scions from this root, also.

as for now I am satisfied with what I have done.

next I am going to take some cuttings from the two apple trees.. prolly tomorrow..

good morning,

woke up at 3: 3o today,,

My grapes are Concord. they taste very good, but you just suck them and spit the seeds out.. very sour if you try chewing them..

IF these scions sprout roots, I will have plenty to give away.

actually, if the roots that I transplanted yesterday take off, I prolly will not need to plant any of the scions..

I will be heading to the hospital in a few minutes.
Annie is there with our resident.. He does not look like he is going to be coming home .. He took a turn for the worse during the night.. Hospice will prolly be his next stop..

Hi again,

Annie just dug the beets out of the garden,
Good, then I got on Ollie and back dragged the whole garden. got all the corn stalks and miscellaneous weeds and expired plants onto a pile next to the manure pile.
took the loader at it all and mixed it up and rolled it all together and piled it as high as it would stand.
next spring I should have about 2 cu yds of compost.

I am so proud of it, I almost took a picture of it..

I let the chickens out for some fresh air and exercise this afternoon, of course the rooster was right over the fence with a couple of his favorite gals..

I wonder if I could make a long hill and have it ready for planting potatoes next spring ? that would give me a couple of weeks head start on planting them.. hmmm

checked the apple trees for possible scions.. I have a couple of branches picked out..
I have tons of shoots on the trunks.. I am going to try making scions out of some of them, too..
maybe it will work, maybe not..
but it won't hurt anything to try.

I am very sorry to hear about your resident.

It sounds like you got a lot of work done today. I have my 16-month-old GS today, so nothing got done here.

I hope everyone has a great weekend.

time spent with the grandkids is well wasted. you can always get at the work later.. the kids grow up so fast.
my youngest GS lives with us until he can get a little money ahead and get his own appt. ne is 24.. way past the age where he wants to hang with GPa.. LOL..

Funny thing about getting the garden cleaned up.
I did not have that planned for today at all. It just presented itself and I got at it.. I had it all done in about an hour..
I don't consider anything I can do from a tractor seat, work..

I worked on hauling more rocks today. No tractor, no wheelbarrow. I am TIRED!

Thanks for the compliments. I am very happy with how it is turning out.

This is the latest section we got done.

So sorry to hear about Ken, Jim.
