Originally from Italy.

used here as LGD.

during the war in Europe the Italians had a company of Maremma used to pack ammunition etc.

Yes, LGD is Livestock Guardian Dog..
They are no more pricey than what some other maybe more useless dogs sell for..
these dogs actually earn their keep.
they bond well to a family as well as to livestock.

I do not close up my chicken coop in warm weather.

they can smell a human stranger from 100 yards away.
then they bark.

they stay alert all night. and occasionally , when they smell or hear something , they bark.. Otherwise they are quiet..

I NEVER reprimand mine for barking .
That is their job.

they do not herd livestock. that is what border collies are for. they work well with the collies.

this is a grape scion that has been soaking in water.
the white threads are roots that have formed.
the roots are very delicate. hence the one that I broke off.
but you get the idea..
I have several planted in dirt. they should be just as developed as these water rooted ones..

I had Venzun cheeseburgers with kraut last night and a few icehouse longnecks too cw...I love my ho-made kraut and eat it all the time.....it is actually very nutritious for you and very few calories.
