Wisconsin "Cheeseheads"

Good late morning! I have to leave for work in 2 hours and I have done nothing!

SO here I am on BYC....oh well! Congrats on the linoleum DrH! It must be hard when there is a pattern that you need to keep straight...picking on ya here; what did you mean by this?
I got up at 4:50 this morning for a call to nature and couldn't go back to sleep. The wheels were turning. Sent the BFF home and told him to sleep in, he deserved it. Told him I'd call when I needed him

Sure sounds like he was sleeping on your couch--or still working while you were sleeping--then you sent him home?

Thanks for the chuckle this morning!
Felt good to go back to bed after feeding the cats and dogs this morning...still kinda tired though and headachey...new word for the day. I stayed up too late last night...again!
I was having the weirdest dream when I woke up...my son had just come back from riding my old mare and I came down from sleeping to go to work and the first floor of my house was a diner. He was eating eggs and a couple of big slabs of ham and hadnt watered or untacked the horse yet. I sent him out to do it and my GF from down the road had just gotten thrown from our old gelding. The weird thing is that neither of these people ride and both the horses are deceased! OK you dream analyzers; what does this mean? Very odd!
Gotta get out and get the chores taken care of and off to work. Have a fantastic day all! Terri O
(PS) BL4--darn you! Now I have to go and look at THAT!

Good Morning (for a bit)
Sounds like the swap went well. I have never been to one so maybe when one happens close to our area I will check it out. Years ago went to a motorcycle/car swap but I think this would be better.
DrH it's funny how we find those pains the next day.

You must be very pleased with your progress. We are at a point that we are stopping at till Spring with our kitchen redo. Will be replacing a window and putting in patio doors. So far it's really turning out nice.
Visit with my Parents on Friday was good. Dad almost 90 with Parkensons (in nursing home) and dementia wasn't really with it. But he knows your there and gives kisses. Some days are better than others. Mom is 81 and great, she visits him every day

I have Friday afternoons off and I drive to Neenah to visit them most weeks.
So many of you are very busy with your bators, can't wait to see all the little ones

As soon as it warms up I would love a few chicks. Only have room for about 4 and would like good layers. Still researching as to what kind but they all sound great in there own ways

Hope it's almost done for the season.
Have a great Sunday

Hey all -

I'm not really a "Wisconsinite" but I'm definitely a cheesehead! GO PACK!!!!

I live in Menominee, Mi - Right on the border with Marinette - about 45 miles north of Green Bay. Just moved back to the area. Retired in 1999 after 21 years in the Marine Corps. Moved back up here about three years ago. Bought a small place on 5 acres just outside the city limits.

I've been working on a chicken coop/run for about a week now. I've also bought a used LG9200 incubator. I figure now is the time to get things in motion... I'd like to have a flock of about 20-30 chickens with a couple of Roosters. I'd like to raise them for eggs and also some for meat.

I've been doing a lot of searching but can't find anyone near me that has fertile eggs for sale - or chicks. I've been on all the hatchery sites but would rather pick them up than use the USPS - save money on postage... etc.

Any help would be GREATLY appreciated!

Tom

Yea... chickens... LOL - Good one!

I'd like to start out with some good layers that are obviously cold hardy... Although the coop will be insulated with a trap door going out to the run.

Really, right now, I'd like anything just to get started... Eggs, chicks... as long as it's not too expensive. I've come to the conclusion that retirement is just another word for unemployed... LOL

Well, got a call from the PO this morning. 27 new baby chicks in the brooder. Life is good. Afraid some people won't be so happy, as some of the boxes were pretty quite at the PO when I picked up mine. Have a good day all.

Afternoon All...

Tomski welcome to the forum. Alot of good folks here to help. There is a breeder right by Green Bay that some of us get eggs and chicks from. He is reasonable and close for you. We are having a bash in June where you could get some peeps or birds from the folks on here....just hang around here awhile and someone will fix you up .... Just across the river is close enough to be a cheesehead! Thanks for your time in the Service! Enjoy retirement it will grow on you...it takes awhile to figure things out. I also have Buckeye eggs, others have other breeds here.

Good to hear things are going good Doc....You'll have to bring the tunes and L into the bathroom and break that new floor in with a shuffle or two! You can smile and dance at the same time!

Talk Later.... ~ bigzio
