Wisconsin "Cheeseheads"

This chick delivery has been a giant snafu....... they were not sent express, they did not indicate there were live birds in the box (because apparently air holes and chirping are not an indication of life)...... I have 30 meat chicks sitting in Milwaukee since 11:30 pm yesterday. They were sent priority mail from Portland OR on June 30th, so they do not have a delivery date until Monday.

I was told today (by a very snotty postal employee) that they are probably in a shipping container in Oak Creek (where they have been sitting since midnight), but there is no way to determine where a package is sent once it leaves the Milwaukee distribution center. How they cannot tell where a package is going is unbelievable to me.....

They might arrive tomorrow but I have little hope that they will be alive. I wanted to drive up to Milwaukee to get them, but without a destination I would be wasting my time. The current status states that the package will be delivered on time (Monday), and is on its way to the next facility.

I am very upset with this whole situation. The irresponsibility of the company shipping chicks during a holiday week, not sending the chicks express, not telling the USPS the box contained live animals, and that the jerks in Milwaukee would not help me find the chicks. I contacted the company I bought them from, they said we have not had any issues shipping priority mail since it is cheaper than express, and we will start the process to issue a refund. The money is not the point..... I expect better treatment of the animals.

If they arrive tomorrow I do not expect them to be alive....... certainly not on Monday.

what hatchery is that ?
I would take the full refund and keep any live chicks to boot.
where did they save any money ? they are out the chicks, and are giving your money back.
false economy on their part..

Well, I am beyond shocked. No notifications from the PO until I received a phone call this morning. For 36 hours that box was in limbo......

And I am so relieved that they are ALL alive and doing well..... thirsty but active and found the food and heat plate.

I do not want to go through this again in September.

Jim, I completely agree with you. I called the company yesterday as I was certain the box would arrive on Monday. The PO did not put into their records the box contained live animals, yet the box arrived correctly identified with the live animal sticker and my phone number was on the box. There were huge screw ups with the entire system IMO. The company started the refund process yesterday.

Happy 4th of July,
I went outside earlier this morning to see how many tomato plants DD brought for me to plant
the official count for a ''few'' now stands at 16
I always thought it was 3 to 5..
How much can I sell potted tomato plants for ?
I am nearing 50 plants.. I really don't need that many..
I figure I will have two cubic yards of dirt in the collective buckets.
Plenty of dirt for next year when I guarantee that I am NOT going to plant 50 tomatoes..

I am not sure. I know there use to be 2 big mink farms between janesville and Delavan on Hwy 14 but they have been gone for quite some time now.

I think there is one or two in sheboygan but not exactly sure of where

good morning,
I just have to announce that I finally managed to make a perfect cuppa coffee.
at 5PM yesterday we had a strong thunderstorm roll through. high winds, and some hail in other places. not here. then at 7 PM it started to rain again. I won't have to water anything for a couple of days.
