We hunt down in a valley in the middle of nowhere. Havent got out there yet, hoping to soon. There is a big buck out there, we have seen him for 4 years now.

We also live in a prime deer hunting area. We harvest nice mature bucks most years. Should be another good season for the big boys by the looks of the trail cameras. Good luck to all the hunters.
Youth guns hunt this weekend, so we are splitting wood and staying out of the woods.
Closed the windows in the coops, to keep my featherless chickens from becoming chilled.

Shorter days has really set the molt in action here. Plenty of feathers to clean up every morning where they roost. Nice sunny day here and only collected 2 eggs from 17 girls. Time for them to take a needed break. Special treats are given now to improve feather growth.
Plenty of seasonal chores to deal with. The chimney needs swept as well as the smoke pipes to be inspected and replaced where needed inside.

We use horse pellets in the coop so when the feathers get out of line, we put on a mask and use a leaf blower. I wouldn't try that on the chimney though.

I just woke up to see it almost looks like homecoming pranksters were out here.

Hubby had gone out last night after dark and covered up flower gardens with old sheets. I didn't realize he did that. Good thing he did as I see frost nailed some other things.

Prolonging the inevitable but we can enjoy it for a few more weeks I suppose.

We pulled our tomato plants that were left there was 3 tomatoes that were almost done. The frost hit here. Luckily we covered the strawberry plants and a few other plants before it hit

We have never covered our strawberries. Are you still getting some and is that why you do? Ours quit a few weeks ago. We just let them freeze and they come back up every spring.

They were still growing good so i covered them. They are also a new plant this year. Our old strawberries that we had for about 7 years died when the first frost hit so since then i just cover them.
