Wisconsin "Cheeseheads"

I had an orpington egg hatch yesterday and it looks like the chick has a cushion comb. Apparently, she bred with the chantecler. This is the first cushion comb I've seen out of the 12 eggs I've hatched. So he's P/R and she should be p/r right? Maybe it will turn out to be a pea or rose comb. Guess I'll have to keep this one to find out.

Have a good 12 + up here in Nashville and it's still coming down. Last night was like firworks with all of the thunder and lightening !! My Great Pyrenese wouldn't stay outside !!! What a chicken !

Can't get him to come in any other time except during the heat of summer when the air is on.

Horses are having a blast dashing thru the snow today.

Chickens are all cooped up, I"m sure getting cabin fever today.
Lucky little silkies are housed in the basement.

Keep those eggs hatching everyone. I've got some silkies coming in the mail tomorrow and plan on putting in all of my olive eggers and maran eggs along with them.
Then next week am expecting some domoniques, lavender ameraucanas and lavender and buff orp eggs in the mail to put in for the Easter Hatch.
Anyone else participating in the Easter hatch ?

Jim, glad your back to posting ! Sorry to hear about your pain. You'll need to wear some shades while you plow

DrHa why can't those be lavender silkies that you are giving away ??? I've got this itch to hatch lavenders !!! Where does this madness end ?

If I had more energy I'd go out and make a snow chicken

Yay Wisconsin!

New member... waiting for my shipment of ducks to arrive in less than a month! Very excited.

I haven't had ducks before but I have raised chickens and turkeys.

Little flurries here right now but no snow on the ground... yet!

but real messy........ Enjoy !

We have two Rouens (hen & drake) One drake mallard and about 10 runners (various colors)

Got out first egg two days ago and our second egg today. It is very large.

Does anyone know what size the runners & Rouens lay so I can figure out who laid it???

Thanks

I just got back i from plowing.. My a$$ is wet..
what a PITA !! the ground is not frozen so I kept digging up big scoops of dirt, or else digging in so deep I could not go forward anymore.. wet heavy snow.. a few times I could not get the bucket to lift..

then for icing on the cake, I clipped off my small apple tree..
yup, the only one that I ever had a successful graft. It gave me 3 apples last year.. there is no smiley face to cover this one.. LOL

Annie made a nice spicy kettle of chili.. that really hit the spot..

DrH, don't you just love it when the nay-sayers tell you that your idea won't work? that just makes me more determined to prove them wrong.. My Oliver 55 is probably the only one ever to have a front mounted hydraulic pump on it.. I had to design my own mounts and brackets.. there was no extra clearance for the shaft to the pump,, so I had to mount the pump upside down and that left me only 1/4 inch of clearance under the shaft and the casting of the tractor frame..

Hurley, Block? what block? drops in the eye , that's enough..

after 2 hours on the trator my eye feels just fine.. Don't tell Annie though;, I have to milk this long enough for her to feed and water and then collect the eggs.. LOL .. this might just last another whole day,,

Dave, what school do you teach at?

emryst,, welcome.. ducks are messy.. their main goal in life is to empty their water dish as quickly and completely as they can. No matter what size or shape of container it is..

Hi all! Got about a 1/2 inch here of ice. Looks like snow, sounds like ice. Wild storm last night too. Was down in the barn, horses in stalls, feeding and it just started to pour! Horses were freaked out. Stayed down there until it passed and they calmed down. Goats didn't care at all, they just keep eating. Day one of lockdown. Terri- I hear ya about watching the eggs. I keep looking at them and I know they are not going to hatch for another 3 days! It's going to be a long 3 days. Ok all you bakers, question: why is wheat bread harder to make? I can't get it to rise. I did the same things as I do with white bread. Suggestions are welcome. Well going to Fondy for some skidloader tires. Later

Was thinking about it as I sometimes do. You know, thinking about "it". And something came to mind. I hope that by my giving away chicks/eggs doesn't interfere with others selling things. It costs a lot to hatch and raise birds and I don't in anyway shape or form blame anyone for charging a small fee for doing so. I just don't want anyone feeling bad for doing it. It's just that I want to do it if I can sucker in another "cheesehead". OOPS shouldn't have typed that out loud. If it was an outsider believe me they'd pay. I hate outsiders! Well maybe not hate them. Maybe don't know them well enough to trust em. Dang outsiders! I say we kill em all! Well maybe not kill em all maybe just ruffle their hair.... a bit. Man I wish this moon would wane it's drivin me loonie! Super Loonie MWAHAHA!!!! Boy am I glad we didn't get all the snow that some of you got, the lil mule had a hard enough time pushin this little bit being that wet. Gonna need some new mower blades for sure. 16" holy crap Bigz! 12" FT holy crap! That's gotta be neat to see the horses blasting through it, kind of commercial worthy. Glad I don't drink Bud; I'd get thirsty-er. I gotta go check for warm eggs again, I love warm eggs especially on my plate. MWHAHA.
