Wisconsin "Cheeseheads"

Good Aft! Just came in to warm my toeseys. Barn boots have steel toes. Had to grease up Elvis' comb. She must have spent the night tanning. I over greased it so it would soak in good and all the others wanted a piece of that [to eat]so I seperated her in the coop. She really seemed to like the bag balm bet it felt good. Know the feeling. After a couple of hours I wiped the excess off and let Peaches in to make sure she was OK. He was worried! He's quite the boy! He's looking more and more like Bigzio every day. Any relation there fordmommy-Bigz? Come spring he's going to be one handsome boy! Right now not so much. OK I lied he is but just a little darker in spots. Cleaned the dusting pit too. The amount of joy cannot be measured. Got my tractor plow parts laid out for hole locations now it's onward with the project. Got wood brought in now lunch, nap then a whole new world. I'm looking forward to it, hope I don't die in my sleep.

I'm in tears and almost peeing my pants!

The eggs Louis is sitting on are Black Copper Marans. It seeems like things are going okay. She's doing all the work.

Got that new patio door home. Gotta unload it and put it in the shed. Man. What a deal we got on it. Almost stealing it.

Hope you all are having a nice weekend!

Good afternoon everybody! I too, gave my girls a new dust bath today. Combination of wood ashes, DE and Carbaryl. It seems to be working. I am still worried about a few of my EEs...they always seem to be on the roost. I think I will take the Vaseline out there this week. Their feet look a bit scaly.

Record today since I got this new flock! Thirty eggs! Guess what I am bringing to the SB party this afternoon? Yup, fresh eggs and deviled eggs. Got to keep them moving out of my fridge! O DH says I have to get dressed so we can leave...talk to you all later! Terri O in WI

Ya TO that can be embareassing if you forget your drawers. I often get dressed to go out to do work around the house and L will say hey your zipper is down. I told her it was for better use of my time. It's a beer thing. Sometimes I go downtown and forget till I get about half way back to the car and feel the draft. WOWEE thas a lot o eggs! I made my B'fasts this morning, L was sleeping in and she got up just as I was finishing. I asked if she wanted eggs she said yes. I told her that I'd go squeeze a hen. She never heard that before [city girl] think she dribbled a little. I laughed just hearing her laugh. Life is so good! Sorry fordmommy I didn't mean for that to happen! Hope Louis does her thang! Those are some pretty birds but then again aren't they all?

Early Evening All...
Taking a half time break from the Big Game.

We have to watch the Who. Me and Suzie saw them in Madison at the coliseum back in the 70's. It was a great show, like so many we saw there!

Suzie made ho-made spaghetti with garlic toast. I was hungry for some italian food.

The commercials have been awesome this year, in my opinion.

fordmommy, I hope your broody turns out to be a special good one for you.

Terry, I think you have the perfect receipe for a trouble free dust bath. I do the same. Never did have problems come around with this flavor bath....

I wish I could just talk and let the puter type. Ooops the Big Game is back on with a on-side kick. Go Saints!

Good morning! Having just one cup with a couple of LO superbowl colored cookies then off to work. Mondays I have an early client so the girls only get a bucket of water and a toss of feed on my way out. I let everyone else wait until I get home at noon. (except the horses...they are fed by my daughter before she goes to school.)
Yesterday I was out sitting on the bucket in the coop and I have two production reds (I think) that were coming up to me and pecking at the zipper on my bibs. They really liked to be petted under the chin and ultimately one jumped up in my lap for a cuddle! I was amazed. My last flock didnt care to be touched at all. Even my big BA rooster came around a bit! I think they were looking for treats...I guess I will have to put something in my pockets for the "special" ones.

During the big game my friend and I were working on projects and I made a few nice little books with my new toy. (a Bind It All) It was so fun! I have another obsessive hobby (gasp!!) and I need a name for a 10" tall buffalo that is dressed in jeans, a blue shirt and a red bandanna. He has a tan jacket with fringe too. Any ideas? He will travel around the country visiting other folks with the same hobby. (he is called a boxing buddy)

OK--guess it is time to head out. Have a fantastic day everyone--I hope the snow holds off for a little while; I have hay to unload! Terri O

Terri O, there is not a better exercise in this world to me than tossing hay bales... I am sorry you are so far away!

Ah, another day at the University. I love my job there; nobody is out to get me, the profs are great, and I love chatting with the students and seeing what the latest research project is. Now if I could only get the witchy woman at my other job to go away..... she is plotting to get me now. Doing jobs that I was assigned to do, and making statements about how she does NOT do certain aspects of her job (it is beneath her) so those 'second shift' people can do it. She is still giving me the silent treatment when we work together (she knows I will not tolerate any more of her crap).

I wish my boss would get the guts to deal with her, but I think he is afraid of dealing with her as well........ (sigh) well at least I know I do not have to stay at that job forever, but I feel sorry for the other people who are there and have to continue to put up with her.

Anyway, that is depressing stuff on to something happier. I have a farmhouse in mind to move to, but the guy wants WAY too much for it. It would be PERFECT for our family of 6; seperate bedrooms for the kids, 15 acres, a barn, coop, AND a brand new pole building for all the toys! He did not sell in this last cycle so it is off the market right now. I am hoping we can get our house on the market and sold so we can make an offer. It would be so good for the kids to have a GIANT yard to roam around on. What is even better is I work with the guy who owns the property across the road so the kids would be able to get some farm hand experience in as well.

Ack! It is 8:30 already?!!! Gotta scram! Have a good one everyone and get those shovels ready!

Ah, I remember the early mornings, catching some precious home time before one has to leave for work.

My youngest daughter stopped by for supper tonight. I'm glad she did. She loves chickens, and chickens love her...who would of ever thought that was possible?

The backyard flock does make a difference. It keeps life fun!

Oh yeah! The Jefferson Fairgrounds are only 5 miles from me! Whooo Hooo! Anybody going? I think I will just to get some info on pigeons. I would really like to add some the my menagerie! Terri O
