Good Morning Everybody! H&R forgot to say what a neat lookin peacock that is would like to see a pic of it in the sun. delisha neat pic of mom and the kids glad she accepted the stray! Jim gonna plow today too. Just enough to play with.

Sold the snowblower last night now have to find something to put in the empty space.

Vic think to make it a manly piece the bottom would be a gun safe and the rest a pie safe.

denise we can't get enough of that sauce it's rich and little tangy. Bf4me pasties, tassles, anni, whiskey old fashions, boy is L gonna be surprised hope she likes my show! I will never learn. Every time I say how good the girls are laying they hear me so I only got 3 eggs yesterday.

Chicks and mom are doing great..as cold as it has beeen I keep expecting to go into the coop and see a few lil fuzzy body's, but, they are like little crazy zips running all over like it is spring. The weather should be in the 30's for a few days so that gives me piece of mind. The huge dumping of snow does not. I have no idea how I am going to empty the driveway. DH is coming home today and he will not be able to get in.

It took me over an hour to shovel a tiny path to the close coop. I decided it was less work to just walk through to the last coop with out shoveling.

I finally have one silkie pip..the humidity raised to 70% and I have no idea how. I am just leaving it alone. The temp dropped a degree and left that alone too. I will check it later.

I don't have any hatching yet..just pips...but I might have more I do not see and that might be why too. It was 55% last night. I just thought it was a huge jump.

good morning,, I was woke up by Annie and she said Ididn't have to plow.. I am going to plow still, only the urgency is gone.. I will take my shower etc , and then plow later when it warms up some more.. I want the sun to get at the ice layer under the snow..

Delish, if you lower your humidity, the temp should rise.. don't fiddle with the thermostat..
IMHO but your call.. If you have eggs pipping and zipping and hatching, that can cause the humidity to rise..

How many chickens did you do TerriO ?

H&R ,, that is a really neat looking white peacock.. I hope you get some eggs to hatch.. If you do not want to try hatching eggs, I would love to take a crack at it..

that gun/pie save is a neat idea,, but what if the burglars have a sweet tooth ??
last summer my brother's house was broken into and they stole a whole bunch of guns.. He has a safe now for his new guns.. the empty safe weighs over 300 pounds.. with the guns in it and somebody wants to carry it away,, they can have it.. Oh yes, btw.. it is anchored to the concrete floor in the basement.. good luck thieves ..

hope to get some birds moved around today,,,,think that my first hatching will be OE's,,,,my BWAm roo still isn't ready So I will get the pullets together with the BCM cockerel and see how that goes. Some of the BCM pullets will be put together with the OE cockerel. This will test these young males and hopefully give me some eggs for hatching soon.

I should have my Chantecler eggs at the end of the month, so that will keep the bator going, nice having the option of setting different eggs over a period of time. I've worked out my plan for a brooder, now to get everything together and build it,,

not sure about turning that pie safe into a gun safe, around here innocent pies need protecting

Morning

, seems we had about 4 inches of snow yesterday- DH is still out removing snow, hoping he will be home soon so he can get some sleep before having to head back into town. Just talked with DH- they have 5 places left on the west side of town and 3 over on the east side of town- he says in some places they are removing up to a foot of snow due to drifting

says he'll probably make it home by noon. I was planning to go work on a unit but will hold off until he is home and I know what his plans are- thinking he will not be heading back into town! Kid's are on a 2 hour delay so the bus will pick them up around 9:20 am- roads look to have ice under the snow so hoping that the sun will come out and help melt things.

Thanks on the comments about Gadget(our white peacock), DrH- I was hoping he would have turned around but he never did! Jim- we will probably give it a shot to hatch out eggs from the pair- our hen is an India Blue-will see if she lays any eggs this year. CC's sister has the brother to our hen. CC are you able post any updated pictures

beautiful morning everyone!
No snow here yesterday and the Sun is shining now.
UNKADAN-no safe would protect a warm pie in our house from my hubby ( aka cookie/pie/cake monster)
For those who asked, our friend isn't making them for yet but maybe next year. Wish I had a pic of the other one he made. They are not false covers , he actually builds the cabinet around the safe they are one piece making them even heavier. Ours is designed to be bolted to the wall but we haven't done it yet but like JIM said, nobody is going to pick it up and all away.

Still only getting eggs from three of the girls, Don't know what's up with momma. Oh well, she's the one I don't know for sure the age SO maybe she's close to end of her productive years. That's ok, she doesn't eat much

Hahahahaha about the pasties.

If DH's parents didn't live on the farm I think I would do that. But nobody needs to see all of this, so I guess I'll have to keep my clothes on

I would love the recipe though Delisha, and thanks to all of you who made some suggestions. I can't wait to try them. Oh and I will get the recipe for the corn relish on here soon.
Chicks are doing great and growing like weeds! They are a week old now. I can't believe how fast they grow.
Sunny here today- thank goodness. Make me have some ambition.
