Wisconsin "Cheeseheads"

ahh yes a "blustery day" said Poo

yup sick chickens in Mexico,,,,they lost close to a million last summer,,one of the reasons for high poultry prices in the US,,,,we exported them lots of product,,,now it will be worse for those buying at the stores

maybe more of us will or should be raising meat birds this summer

the drought was just as bad there, we sold millions of bushels of corn,,,once again a reason for our feed prices at this all time high

some of you have expressed interest in fermented feed, this is a blog I subscribe to, the gal does her research and presents things in laymen's terms,,,,science for dummy's

anyway,,,nothing much new here another day in the nort'woods

Great info Unka! Didn't know about the whole die off/drought thing from last year.

I printed off that article about fermenting this morning. Good stuff!!! Wish I could grow meat birds BUT I can't help myself I have to name everything and once that's done, I'm done. "Oh yes dear, Miss Fluffy Buns was delicious!" Not.

I even have trouble eating venison if I see it before he's skinned it. Yaaaa, I know. WIMP WIMP WIMP.
(Did I mention I was a vegetarian before I married a man who thinks Polish Sausage is a food group?)

Meh. Had a bad day on Monday. Our dear dog Aries passed away. He was feeling poorly on Sunday night, restless and vomited water during the night. He couldn't get up in the morning, and on the way to the vet he stopped breathing. There was nothing the vet could do for him. She thought it could have been a twisted stomach or ruptured tumor. We brought him home in a blanket and wait for spring to bury him. I keep catching myself expecting him to come around the corner. Ugh. I am glad we had 10 good years with him and he didn't have to deteriorate into old age. Miss ya boy.

That's really a shame. He's a beautiful dog.

Kristip, there are some really good DIY tutorials here on BYC on making your own incubator fan using a computer fan and one of those 9V plug in adapters. It is a piece of cake to do.

Amy, I know I said this yesterday but I am so very sorry for the loss of your dog....
