Wisconsin "Cheeseheads"

I suppose it all depends on what you use. I looked into the fan for a Hovabator, it looks exactly like the one I have in mine but mine is off the back of an old PC. I adjusted it so that there are a few nuts in the screws keeping the unit off the top of the cover so there is adequate air flow though the fan and it is not overheating. Never had an issue with over drying or excessive heating.....

Anyway had the oldest DS's birthday party tonight with the family and gave him his BIG present; an electric guitar! He was shocked and ecstatic! Now I need to find someone to give him lessons........

So that is it here. Off to bed for me. I hear they had a 20 car pile-up on 41 today, right at my exit for work...... glad I was home.

Night all!

Here they are in the plastic tub in our dining room. Funny little things!

Evening all.
Amyable- so sorry to hear about your dog!
Well- still no eggs. I posted a question in one of the threads on here, so maybe I'll get some ideas..
Chicks are stinky and starting their ugly stage. DS3 dropped them some popcorn today and they gobbled it up so quick. It was hilarious. They are getting too big for their little brooder in the dining room, and I am looking forward to getting them out of here.

I'm getting hatching eggs from a couple BYCers hopefully I get some to hatch! I really just need one rooster.
I kinda wish I had a rooster too, and maybe another hen. Good luck on your hatch! I hope your day got better.

Have you ever considered a belt? A tool belt, of course.

Mazo, did you ever see MLH over the weekend? Weren't you going to peek in somewhere that they might have been speaking at a while back?

Delisha, I had a 3 day difference in hatching an orp egg. The late one was the oldest egg in the batch. It wound up being the only roo in the hatch.

Bl, I saw that pileup briefly on the news. There was also one near Lomira on 41. I'm glad you were home today. Scary stuff.

Nothing new other than freezing today. Now I am just tired & want to hit the hay. Sweet dreams, all! Stay warm.

The late hatchers are from hens dropping eggs in nests after the hen started to set..I had no idea when that was since I never marked the original eggs under the broody to begin with. The chicks outside are to old for me to sneak these new chicks in, so they are with my other batch of shipped hatched. They are getting picked on, but, they are the same size as these older chicks. My meat birds will out weigh them in two days so the picking should stop or at least even out a bit.

That little silkie is mean..he is pulling out all the feathers on the Marans and Cochins feet..

Might name it meanie

Hi All! OK, I read the posts then the computer geeked out, now it's almost 2 hours later, forgot most of what I read and too late to go back.

Bl4....hope the cat keeps improving.

GR....I am an expert at getting taken advantage of by "house guest". You and Adam don't have much of an income right now and your utilities will go up with that many more people there. At the VERY LEAST have them buy all the food. They might be broke too but feeding you and Adam when he's home and what kids are home is allot cheaper than paying rent and utilities somewhere else. They still have to eat so it gives them some incentive to contribute. If you feed them too... well, hell, everything is taken care of, why worry!

Also, make them help out around the place.

Amy.... so sorry about you dog!

delish..... maybe the silky thinks s/he should be the only one with fuzzy feet!

Well, as I was trying to fix the water in the turkey pen.... the hen got out! Too tired and too slippery to chase her so I thought I'd grab her when she settled to roost. Went out after dark and found her on the coop roof. Hope she comes down for breakfast! Hope she don't freeze.

Well that's it... I'll stoke the fire and hit the hay... Night all!

Good Morning! Cindy hope your turkey hen is still there this AM. delisha congrats on the late hatchers! Funny about that Meanie! CC You wish you had a roo? Careful what you ask for.

JJ some sound thinking on the DS's part!

Dan Batteries Plus rebuilds all makes for a whole lot less than new. I was wondering how well they last, if it was worth going that route. Jim good advice on the fan wiring. Amy so sorry to hear about Aries, so sudden.

Yesterday they went in to look at Dad's arteries and found a bad valve, not operable. He doesn't want the operation anyway. So after his incision heals I'll go over and take him home. Today is his 79th B'day. Will talk to him today sometime. After chores I'm painting the frame work for the drop ceiling in the living room. Only 4 panels out of 18 don't need to be cut to size.
