Wisconsin "Cheeseheads"

Oh. My. Gosh. I think I might have just scored big time. (On eggs Unk ;) )

I was looking at Greenfire Farms and dreaming about awesome birds. I was interested in one I hadn't ever heard of before called a Breda chicken. Pretty cool to look at. Virtually extinct over here. Roosters have no comb. Well they weren't horribly expensive but $19 a chick straight run is still kinda stiff (calm yourself boys).

I hopped on eBay at 1:30 in the morning. (I was awake because at 12:30 the 3 yr old unplugged the monitor and it was beeping. I go up there to find he hadn't slept yet, had trashed his room, gotten out of his pajamas that were zipped up the back so he couldn't get out of them, sitting naked in his bed with a large puddle of pee by him. Seriously?) After dealing with all that I was a bit wound up and ended up on eBay. I bid and won on 16+ Blue Breda hatching eggs! I got them for 39 plus 16 shipping. That's equal to buying 3 chicks from Greenfire! With 16+ eggs, I have a great chance of getting more chicks than that. So I will wait with bated breathe to see if this was a great deal...

Deli-I think I'll take you up on the egg offer. What are you doing tomorrow?

Cuties-Mr. Gibs is doing fine. I'm trying to teach him to drink out of the heated chicken waterer. Do you think there is a chance for success? I built a ramp for him to get to it and put him up there with his chin touching the water. Any other suggestions? It is a gravity fed not nipple fed. What was he used to having?

Why can't I post pics? I'm trying to upload pics of Mr. Gibs.

I think it worked....

I am cleaning house today..DH is coming home tomorrow and I have not touched it since he left. The dust is an inch thick.(I have chicks in the basement). I ripped my bedroom apart and have junk all over the place..come on over..it will give me an excuse to do nothing..lol

Rberry...I am right off 69 in new glarus. We will have to get together and I would love to see your meaty set up.
My first day off in ages...have some interviews next week.
Starting my seeds this weekend, was supposed to be last weekend, but the flu had us all down and out. Mine is still lingering, but fading, which is good. Off to clean and see if carol and I can touch base today.

kristip . . . we are also just off 69 across from the golf course. Getting together would be great, maybe once this snow finally melts . . . much needed moisture but I'm ready for spring!! Enjoy the seed starting I couldn't wait, made the mistake of going to the Garden Expo, so got together w/friends two weeks ago and planted and a few things have sprouted - now I'm really getting stoked.

Thanks for all the welcomes.

This is a JOKE-

Bigfam is shopping for straight jacket jammies with absorbent core on ebay. I bet that 3 am is the peak sales time for those on ebay.

OK, project "Incubation Station" arranged. LOL

Station 1 with the spare card table to flip out when I need more table room.

Turn to the right, Station 2, which is up on a workbench, nice height for me to arrange things.

Jim, have got them fired up and coming up to temps, will let them cook as they are a bit damp after cleaning, but they aired out overnight so are dry to the touch this am, anyway.
Then will work on following your directions. :)

You know honestly we could call them Autism Proof Jammies. But if we just put buckles down the back and only one arm pinned it wouldn't cause such a ruckus...???

(for you newbies my 3 yr old was diagnosed with Autism in Dec. I have every right to crack a joke now and again in this area since I'm living it. I give JJ permission as well...

I did see Mr.Gibs go up to the waterer and stick his tongue out. I assume that means he knows the water is in there, but I still haven't seen him drinking the water.

My RIR is either starting to molt or someone is plucking out her tailfeathers. I haven't had eggs from her in about a month. We do have lights on in there from sun up to down (but only in the run not inside the coop). There is no heat however. I hope she doesn't go naked before it gets warm out.
